So I have a question. I'm assuming 3rd party will be able to make Wii U Gamepad controllers like they do with all controllers released for consoles. We all know the Wii U gamepad doesn't support multitouch. Is that something a 3rd party controller could implement and give us a multitouch gamepad for Wii U? Or does nintendo have final say on the controllers 3rd party makers release to market?

Nope.

For reasons of impracticality, not Nintendo saying no.

Why would they need it for multi-touch? If the standard Nintendo gamepad doesn't support it then I doubt any games will use them nor will any of the apps most likely be developed for multitouch either.

I hate third party controllers anyway, they don't work. -_-

Uhm...no. The only way for a game to need multitouch is if it came with a separate controller specifically for that.

So I doubt that they'll release a 3rd party controller with that feature, separate from a game.

Besides, multitouch is inaccurate and largely unnecessary anyway.

I don't think they will, games for the Wii U will not support Multitouch due to the system default controller being single-touch. If they did that it will be a wast on money. For me I will only be buying official controllers from Nintendo, I had a third party wii remote and it didn't last long.

So if Nintendo does have an app store like rumored... And your or your kids favorite iPhone/android app game comes to the store and it features multitouch gestures.... What then? The developers of said app will have to try(which probably won't happen) to make the game a single touch game. I'm just saying we all know Nintendo made the gamepad to combat apple and all the tablets out there right now. Why have it if you can't play your favorite app game on it?

You own an iphone, decide to get rid of it and buy a galaxy s2.
do you expect Siri? The app store? safari?
No, but you expect better versions of those applications/services. And you get those on android.
Same applies here.

Game studios are going to develop their games for the Nintendo Wii U GamePad spec. the code will be suited for that exact technology.

a 3rd party technically could include more capable specs, but there would be little to no return on investment, since gamers wouldn't be able to use them outside of specialized software bundled with the 3rd party pad.

Honestly multi touch is based on the software ends of things so in all actuality the wii u control could have an update making itpossible for it to have multi touch at a later date

It's highly unlikely Nintendo will licence the Wii U game pad to third parties. Even if they did they're not going to support multi touch as the official game pad doesn't. There would be no point what so ever as no developers would take advantage of it.

Simple. That's just not going to happen. Any software released for the Wii U will have to meet the spec of its standard input features, i.e. the standard touch game pad.

Uhm...no. The only way for a game to need multitouch is if it came with a separate controller specifically for that.

Multitouch is hardly inaccurate or unnecessary. It works very well on the iOS devices and makes a big difference.

Honestly multi touch is based on the software ends of things so in all actuality the wii u control could have an update making itpossible for it to have multi touch at a later date

No it's not software based. The hardware itself has to include the technology. You can't introduce it as a software update.

multi touch isn't better, its an alternative, multitouch sacrifices accuracy

what makes the wii u a million times better than ipad is that it has buttons as well, so who needs multi touch if you have buttons?
