I think certain 3rd party devs have to much say in what console manufacturers must produce, i like nintendo for the fact that there nobodys mother doges, they make a console how they want and tell devs "if ur good enough and really want too, this machine can seriously kick ass, so go make some games, oh n to prove it heres mario galaxy " . I bet sony n ms cant even begin to design a new console with out people from epic, unreal, etc being very very involved. This gen people will start asking "do i really need better textures in games? Im all ready happy and $500 seems a lot, nintendo wii u is more powerful than my xbox and it now has the big games i want, its a no brainer really "really, thats unsuprising
even still you need competition for 3rd party support, so hold tight to the hype train

Rogue Squadron was a launch game for the Gamecube that is more impressive than any other Gamecube game or even wii game. The developers made that extra effort doing hand assembly of machine code to get a huge amount of performance out of the Gamecube.
When the wii came out and the initial games were quite poor people said there was untapped power in the console that would come out later as developers got familar with the hardware. It seemed with rising development costs and low software sales the reverse was true and a lot of titles that came much later seemed rushed and poorly written.
Sadly many wii games were loss making for their publishers and later many third party games were done cheaply so could still be profitable at these lowish sales levels.
Thats why its so important that the wii u sells not just to casual gamers but more hardcore gamers too as hardcore gamers buy more games basically and buying more games means more investment in new games.

And... C... D... i...Its not true to say launch titles can't be impressive it depends on the ease of developing on the hardware and the developer themselves. Many launch titles have been incredibly impressive like Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64 on the N64 and Halo on original xbox. What aren't impressive are games for poorly designed consoles like ps2, ps3, Sega Saturn, 32x, Atari Jaguar and probably quite a few others that were notoriously difficult to program and had a steep learning curve.

crytech demanded it from nintendo so it may be the most powerful, or inbetween console we will have to see.Nintendo has been very clever if you own a wii and have been happy playing a good mix of games, then when u collect your new wii u and start playing big big sexy hd titles the leap in tech is gonna be instantly aparant! But if ur an xbox or ps3 owner, will u get the same feeling as us wii owners will get? ??? I mean take watch dogs the new ip! It looks amazing on this gen, will ps4 or 720 launch game look much better? I doubt it, and will the leap be worth 400-500$? But hey if crytec or unreal demand it then sony n microsoft better do it lol good luck with that )

I don't understand why some people are worried about the graphics or say they aren't good, did the Legend of Zelda tech demo not look good enough for you?
It looked fantastic but was not running on wii u hardware. It was really just an announcement of what Nintendo expect the wii u to be capable of, nothing more.

It was running real-time on the dev-kits of the day. You could interact with it with the Wii U controller. You could change the time of day, adjust the camera angle. You could even move it to the gamepad to view it. I know it's been over a year, but surly you can remember all of that.It looked fantastic but was not running on wii u hardware.
