Just a thought. First we had P-100, Wii U exclusive published by Nintendo. Now Bayonetta 2, which is the same, although Sega is involved as well.

With Sega in financial troubles, and Nintendo looking so eager to support Platinum even with more risky franchises, could it be possible that we might see them become even more close over the next few years?

It'll be interesting, that's for sure. I'll be awaiting the inevitable cries of "PLATINUM GAMES WERE NEVER GOOD!" if Nintendo ever decides to make a bold move and buy them out. :P

I've been thinking this is very likely. They're getting extremely cozy. Getting platinum added to their first party roster would make Nintendo's first party lineup even more amazing. Not to mention, a large influx of new IPs from Nintendo.

Sega isn't involved with Bayonetta 2 it is published my Nintendo. I can see it now Bayonetta in Smash Bros 4........I would love that. If both The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 are successful I can see Nintendo and Platinum Games working together for quite a long time.

Yeah, you've done a great job so far, letting the Metal Heads destroy the palace.

Sega is assisting to some degree, even if the game is primarily published by Nintendo. They do still own the Bayonetta IP I believe, so it makes sense.

i think the reason that nintendo did what it did with bayonetta is cos it was already half made when it got cancelled, therefore nintendo simply needed to fund the second half of the development so they get a core gamer exclusive title with amazing graphics and they don't even have to pay the full price :D i don't think its a relationship reason. but who knows, they might buy them.

Platinum becoming a major part of the Wii U family would kick serious ass

I was actually talking about this in the chat yesterday. I think that it would show that Nintendo is serious about getting the hardcore gamer back, and on board with the Wii U. Plus the two are almost a perfect fit for one another. Platinum makes great games, and if Nintendo's name is attached to something it will almost for sure sell truckloads.
Who knows, maybe they have already been acquired. They may be waiting to announce it after Anarchy Reins, and Metal Gear Rising are out to announce it.
On a side note this would make me one very very happy Nintendo fan. I hope it has at least been discussed.

This should go a long way to entice other developers to come to the *better* side

Yeah, I think it will be awesome if Platinum joins up witih Nintendo. Be really interesting to see and already has been interesting.

Plus the video game industry isn't stable...you always hear about developing studios closing down and layoffs, but you never hear of any of that stuff about Nintendo...I think things may look up to them better if they side up with Nintendo.

Agreed... I always said...if Sammy ever decides to close or sell Sega...Nintendo better snatch them up...let old enemies trample their persecutors together!

For real, I think Nintendo will treat Sonic and their other franchises good...just like Capcom needs to sell Nintendo Megaman instead of not doing it cause when Nintendo makes games off him, they will be mad cause that could had been their money.

Even if they don't sell Megaman to Nintendo..give it back to Inafune and his new studio

That would be some crazy slap in the face of the competitors.
