In an interview, David Vonderhaar of Treyarch has said that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is the best value game on the horizon. Part of his job description is to say that sort of stuff, of course, but he does make a compelling case, explaining that:
You get into the multiplayer and there’s a huge stretch, from combat training for the new player all the way up to league play. There’s all sorts of stuff in between. And Zombies is now almost a game by itself. There’s more value here than you’re going to find anywhere else. I think we’re doing all the right things to ensure that there’s a huge range of experience.
What’s more interesting to me, however, is the reaction of long-time Call of Duty players. After feeling disappointed with Modern Warfare 3, I’ve seen (and in more than a couple of cases) that their time with Black Ops 2 has reignited their passion for the series. Maybe this it the reinvention the series has been needing.
