whats the news with headphones on the wii U? are bluetooth headphones compatible? if i'm playing black ops2 for example & need to carry on playing just on the gamepad...can i just plug headphones into that? or bluetooth if possible?

No sure about bluetooth i havent heard any news about it.
But plugin headphone into the wii u game pad should work just fine.

i cant see a jack on the gamepad spec...its not mentioned anywhere on the official site? is there deffo a jack in?

The jack on the GamePad will work with a headset (headphones and mic). I reviewed the Tritton Stereo Headset for Wii U (great set) and found it to be excellent. You can also hear yourself talk which is nice.
