Rather than compare specs with Microsoft and Sony, I’d like for people to view this as a different type of machine altogether. For me personally, what’s most important is what makes Wii U original, and that’s the controller.
And while the Wii U is more powerful than the Xbox 360 and the PS3, it definitely sounds like Nintendo is trying to maintain realistic expectations about what the system can handle. The Wii U will surely be under-powered in comparison with the Xbox 720 and the PS4. I don’t think it’s going to be seen as that big of a deal as it was this past generation because I don’t believe the graphical difference is going to be as drastic like it was between the Wii and the 360. Plus, focusing on the controller worked with the Wii. Nintendo isn’t going to exactly dump that ideology unless it’s proven false.
