wtf they say these drives will work but gurantee for not how long wtf. They also say the best external hard drives for wii u are ones that have its own ac adapter power supply im lost I thought just a regular usb external hard drive would work.

That's what I was thinking!! Daheck Nintendo!Nintendo has explicitly confirmed the following drives to work with Wii U, though it cautions it cannot guarantee they will always work. So, again, you'll have to just test these things to make sure.

One that draws 5volts.
Pretty much all of them.
You'll find an odd one on every thousand that won't, and it gets hit or miss.
They're just covering their backs.

This sucks, I was gonna get that HDD, no other consoles need a seperate plug for thier HDD, the Wii U is gonna need 3 plugs, 1. Console, 2. GamePad, 3. HDD. What the hell Ninty!!!!

Yes, I'm pretty sure it will. The quote from Nintendo states:
Some bus-powered hard disc drives draw more current than the USB 2.0 specification and might not run stably, so we cannot guarantee that such devices will run properly on Wii U without the use of a supplemental power cable called a y-cable that draws power from two USB ports
They are simply stating that some HDD's may draw more power than what the Wii U can provide so they can't guarantee that every HDD will work. If you read up on reviews for the Buffalo MiniStation, nobody has reported any issues powering it through 1 USB port and I don't think it will be any different with the Wii U. I expect this drive to work just fine.
