Tell me I'm not crazy. When I try to download the massive firmware update, it freezes on me. The dl animation (blue wheel) freezes; the dl music freezes. Has my Wii U bricked itself?

My friends Wii U froze in the middle of updating. It's been frozen, for like 4 and a half hours. It won't turn off. He won't unplug it because he's afraid he'll brick it. And my power went out during MY Wii U update, and it got bricked. Ah, Nintendo.

The power going out has nothing to do with Nintendo, Pretty much every electrical device that updates firmware etc says not to turn off the power during update as it can cause harm. Now obviously in your case it couldn't be helped but even if it was a mobile phone or something it would have caused problems.

I download way more than 5 gig in movies every day on my crappy Australian connection. 5 gig is jack all in the grand scheme of things.

When I updated, I kept losing my connection and the download would close on me. I'm just glad that you can continue where you left off when you start it up again. But yes, that update was really too large for a first day update.

It's. Not. 5GB!!!!! The whole OS takes up only 4GB of space, so how can the update possibly be 5GB?!
