If your Wii U gets bricked during System Update due to your power going out. here are a couple of reasons why that happened.
Reasons:
1. Wind knocked down your power line
2. Wii U overloaded the power box for your house
3. One of your family members were messing with the power box and shut off all of the power in the house.

Or Nintendo shouldn't have had such a huge day 1 update leaving your shiny new console in a vunerable state for a prolonged period.

power also gets taken out when you have idiots crash into telephone poles.
