Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else tried seeing how far you could walk from your Wii U and still have the GamePad work properly. I tried yesterday and the first time I made it about 2 steps away from my PC, then got a message saying it was out of range. Same deal with when I went to sit at the kitchen table. So maybe I should move things 2 feet closer to the living room so I can comfortably use the GamePad anywhere

I have my Wii U tactically placed in the living room so I can use the gamepad in my bed, in the bathroom, and in the kitchen.

My Wii U is placed in my bedroom because my parents like to watch tv in living room and I kinda prefer the big screen as opposed to the gamepad so I play in my bedroom. It goes from my bedroom, to my bathroom and the stairs. Doesn't go past the stairs to living room unfortunately but no biggie

I don't have mine opened yet but the bathroom is like... 3feet from my room, no problem. I should be able to get range into the livingroom as well because there's only one wall in the way. Unsure if it'd hit the kitchen which is on the other side of the livingroom, but... who games in their kitchen? @_@

Wow really? How is that possible then that it looses connectivity when you leave the room then - all my other bluetooth devices have better range than that

I dunno. But I'm pretty sure that all that information can't be sent back and forth between the system and the gamepad via just IR... Plus, I haven't seen an IR window on the console in any videos or pictures I've seen of it. Also, why would they switch from bluetooth (wiimotes used bluetooth) to IR? Just doesn't make sense. I'm pretty sure the IR window on the gamepad is just for controlling the TV.

Ir is for tv remotes. Need line of sight.
It uses bluetooth. But one of the reasons its doesnt have great range is the amount of data its streming. also it wasnt meant to travel around your house.
But i bet if enough people say stuff about it a 3rd part will make a repeter.
Either way they said it has 25ft range, but other things can shorting that range.
Wifi, cellphones, etc...

This got me thinking, what if Nintendo made a repeater for the gamepad signal, Like a WiFi repeater. That would extend the range of the gamepad from the console.
Or better still, if Nintendo made device that would fit to the bottom of the gamepad that would use a internet connection to and from the gamepad, that way, you could use it whenever you are near a WiFi hotspot.

I have already said this in another thread, but here we go again I can use the gamepad in all my rooms without any problems, my livingroom, bedroom, kitchen and the bathroom

well i couldnt play in my room without lag, and my apartment isnt very big. I'll try again latet, though. Buy luckily I have two tv's so its no problem.

Mine works in all my rooms and just barely in my garage. My gamepad must be facing my bedroom when Im playing in the garage. If I turn away, I lose the signal.

mine works fine in the main living area, i can use it all the way upstairs, but as soon as i step into my room, it cuts out. it also works fine when i start down the hall and stand by the bathroom door, but, once i step inside, it cuts out. ultimate GamePad range trolling.

Lol.. Not managed all over house yet but going to try and optimise the u's position so I can use the game pad in more locations!! No holding out though as there are quite a few walls!!!
