Wii U is great. Launch day was unsettling, because I downloaded the update while surfing the internet on my phone and saw several complaints/problems. Sure enough, when I tried to enter a Nintendo Network ID, nothing happened, It simply loaded forever. So, after an hour or two, I crossed my fingers and unplugged my Wii U. I plugged it back in and everything has been smooth ever since. KEEP IN MIND I DIDN'T TURN IT OFF DURING THE UPDATE. It was while the NN was loading to register my ID.
At first I liked my Wii U, but I didn't love it. I would compare it to when you first buy a CD (if you remember what that's like). Sometimes, you like the songs, but wonder if the CD was worth 15 bucks. But after you become familiar with the songs, you love the entire CD. That's how Wii U worked for me. Once I figured out how to navigate the menu and all of the features, I fell in love with Wii U.
The games are great. I got NSMBU and Nintendoland for now. You've read about them or seen videos. I will say that they are both great, and Nintendoland doesn't have a bad game. They range from pretty fun to AWESOME.
I can tell you right now, the GamePad will change the video game industry forever. It will change your livingroom forever. When I'm in my living room, my Wii U is on. I can control my TV and my cable box right from the GamePad. So while the TV is on, I can be checking Miiverse on the GamePad, change channels, and set a show to record, all from my GamePad. And if my wife wants to watch something and I don't, I can change to channel to her show and fire up NSMBU or Netflix to be played on the GamePad, all on one device. I honestly can't imagine going back.
The OS is a little slow, but I woundn't have noticed if I hadn't read about it on the internet. I've read complaints about the internet being slow; not an issue in my household. I havn't downloaded any games yet, but the eShop is easy to navigate and is layed out well, IMO. It is leaps and bounds ahead of the Wii Shop Channel. Ok, I fired up my laptop just for these thoughts. Now Wii U is calling my name. Have a great day and enjoy your Wii U. Only a few for days for you non-NOA customers. Be excited!
Fellow Wii U owners, post your thoughts. Future Wii U owners, what are you excited for? Feel free to ask any questions.
