Guys, I bought a Wii U Basic System because I had to have one on launch day but now I found a Deluxe System. The problem is that I already registered a user name on my Wii Basic and also bought credits of $100 on the Wii Market Place. I got a username and password for Nintendo Network so I'm not sure if this is where I used my credit card for the hundred dollars of credit or not??

Anyway, my basic question is this: What do I need to do before I return the Wii Basic? I just want to make sure I don't lose out on the $100 of credits.

Thanks for your help.

Accounts are system locked and non-transferable. Meaning your 100 is also locked to that system and can only be used on that system.

That's what I was afraid of. Should I just go ahead and dispute with my credit card company? I haven't even used any of the credits yet. Thanks.

Yeah see if you can do a charge back that's all you can really do.

Call customer service at Nintendo and see if maybe you can figure something out about the credit. Have a receipt and/or card number (from a pre loaded Wii/3ds/Wii U card) on hand. Also have your credit card you used on hand so they know, of course with your NNID and password ready. Because there have been a lot of issues regarding this whole name attached to the console thing, I'm sure you'll get the help you need. Deal with them first before you take action.

Also, games are restricted onto the console. I don't think you can download them externally.

Viral,

I believe games are tied to your NNID (the game can be shared with the other users on the same system though) so I think that would be a no go. Nintendo may make a system transfer in the future but I wouldn't count on it. Someone prove me if I'm wrong though. Also do what Noonabites said, the best people to talk to would be Nintendo themselves.

Yel nintendo has a system of system id + nintedo id.
So its all tied together.
Best thing to do is what everyone said. Call nintendo before returning the system and let them know whats going on.
They may be able to refund you the money on a nintendo card for use on another system.
Now about the using the same nintendo id. Idk you may be able to still use if.
Nintendo is still new to this user id stuff. They always use friend codes which where simply counles ids.

Guys...thanks to all of the comments I can't emphasize enough how important it is to keep both systems until you get a matter like mine cleared up. I'm am on hold with Nintendo now but it looks like they are sorting it out. The guy said verbatim "it's very good that you kept both systems." I was like "yea, that's what a lot of guys said to do."

So, I'm hoping others read this and definitely hold onto both if this happens to them. Thanks again for all of your help and I'll post what happens.

UPDATE:

I called back today after Nintendo said they wanted me to mail them my receipt and then they would refund my $100. Well, this obviously seemed liked a ridiculous idea because I am still waiting to return the system. Long story short, I called back with my case number today and asked the girl if there is anything she can do that doesn't involve me mailing back the receipt and waiting 2 weeks. She put me on hold and I was like "oh no...I'm gonna be on hold forever." But, she came back on the line in under a minute and refunded the $100 back to my card. Just an FYI for anyone else who experiences the same issue. I also have an 800 number that gets right through to Senior Support so no hold times!!! :)
