I played Madden 13 Wii on the Wii U. The title screen seemed to have blocks of stretching to it, that didn't actually look bad. Then when we played the game, my brother said it looked better than on the Wii. I actually agree with him, but the difference was rather slight. It looked more realistic.

Besides the upscaling, I would also say the HDMI makes it look better. Although I brought it up at gamefaqs and was shot down with no reasoning.

It won't actually make a game 'true' HD but I think it should look a hell of a lot better. Good thing.
No sig.

The colours should certainly look better and it should be a sharper picture, even taking into account the upscaling.

The reason for this is pretty simple, the composite video output (yellow for video, red and white for audio) that the majority of people will be using on the Wii is a fairly poor quality analog output. It loses a LOT of quality compared to component (red, green, blue cables and then extra red and white for audio), which was only an optional extra on the Wii so I suspect a lot of people not to be using it.

Even component is still much lower quality than HDMI however, so I would expect the image on the Wii U to always be better than the Wii when using HDMI.

What saddens me is there will be the inevitable people who use composite or component with the Wii U because they are short of HDMI ports, never to realise how much better it looks.

That said, even the Wii U component output is likely to be better quality than the Wii component output, as it supports HD resolutions so gets the benefits of upscaling that might do a better job than your TV.
