Hey, I'm from the UK and got my Wii U yesterday. I had trouble getting the Internet to work but was able to fix it, but now I have a new problem with the update.
It is able to download it but once it gets to the part where it says updating, it jumps up to 30% and then slowly goes up to anywhere between 35% to 65% then says "An error has occurred. The console will now restart...."
I've try to do it like 10 times, and I can't find anything online about it.
Any ideas on what to do?

You could try to get hand of the wii lan adapter and try updating the console through a wired connection

I am having the exact same problem. I rang Nintendo and they said the servers are probably just overloaded, but it seems unlikely that it would do the exact same thing every time if it was solely down to the servers. Have you found a solution yet?

Contacting Nintendo is your best bet.

I have exactly the same problem. There doesn't seem to be much reference to this particular issue anywhere though. Attempted it about 10 times since getting the console. Raise a support call with Nintendo but had no response. The fact the the download completes but the update fails leads me to believe that the issue isn't their servers or my network. My WiiU is current next to my router, trying to update again. Anyone resolved their problem?

Hopefully you guy's with the Problem can find a work around.
The update went smoothly for myself on launch day, which is something i was not expecting after hearing some of the storys about it being 5GB and that it takes upto 3+ hours. Took Less than a hour for myself.

I managed to get the update today! I took my Wii U to my parents house and used their wi-fi. They are with a different internet provider, I'm with virginmedia and they are with BT. Anyway the update worked first time at their house. So if you can trying downloading it at a friend or relatives house.

I am with Virgin Media and aside from some issues setting up the connection, once i set it up manually it worked fine.

Strangely enough I'm with virgin media. It connects to the internet and generally dowloads the data. Just crashes during the update. Getting tired of waiting for downloads just to see if it works this time! Goos job I have unlimited data allowance on my broadband.

I'm getting the same, download completed then update crashing after 30%.
With Virginmedia 30Mb
I can only assume that the download is corrupted.
Had a similar issue sometime back with something else and people were speculating that the connection was too fast! Sorted itself out in the end so don't know the cause.
Anyone find a solution yet?

Same problem here, and I'm with Virgin Media...
Going to try when no one is using the Internet.

Just spoke to Nintendo customer support, they suggested trying someone else's network , it appears to miss out a chunk of data so won't install. I have unlimited data on my phone so am trying that as a Wi-fi hotspot, so far so good, connected instantly and now down loading. Will keep you updated.

Success !!!! :) . Dropped connection a couple of times but picked up where it left off.
Took an age but got there in the end.
Good luck everyone.

I'm with Virgin Media and ive been trying all weekend changing this and that. Must have tried at least 20 odd times with no luck. Downloads and once update reach approx 30% slows down and gives the error. Sooooooo frustrating.

I'm kind of glad I chose BT over Virgin when it came to switching to fibre optic broadband. I've heard too many issues with Virgin's service. BT is by no means perfect but seem to have a lot less issues.

I'm downloading through my phone. TalkMobile barely reaches 3G most of the time, though so it might be done tomorrow morning if I'm lucky.

People shouldn't have to go to these lengths to download the update. You already pay for your Internet and it should work just fine to download it. It's ridiculous when it doesn't.

If I'm being picky, a new console shouldn't need an update day 1,especially if it comes out later than the US version, but it's one of those things.

Well that's true. Most of what's in the update should have been included in the OS from the start. At the same time that doesn't however excuse the Internet provider from having issues when you try to download the update.

Well, different experience using another broadband supplier (sky). WiFi connected automatically rather than requiring manual entry AND the update worked first time. Why have Virgin Media got problems? So glad that's over. Just hope future updates don't have the same issues! Good luck all!
