This is my question and I am hoping this thread won't get spammed with the smart comments of nintendo fans that feel this isn't necessary so for all those people send me $399 dollars so I can upgrade my fully capable audio setup and have to buy new speakers because my gaming ones with stereo plugs can't be wired into the reciever ports.

The fact being nintendo decided to not allow ANY TYPE OF COMPRESSED 5.1!!!!!!

Why the sudden leap and bound nintendo alot of people don't feel the need to buy all new HDMI pass through recievers.

I don't think you know what you are talking about, stereo speakers ?

For 5.1 you need six speakers !

The Wii U is 5.1 if your amp has DTS & Dolby Digital then it will support PCM which is the same as LPCM.

I have posted a video here in this thread http://thewiiu.com/t...problem-solved/ with all the info.

The Wii U will not be able to have a optical output because there is no way to split the audio from a HDMI cable unless you spend a fortune on a expensive converter that will cost more than a amp would do.

Your not reading my post PCM cannot transmit 5.1 through optical because it is uncompressed so you need a HDMI passthrough reciever which is bogus. Uh ya HDMI transmits compressed 5.1, Nintendo only outputs LPCM which is uncompressed you are wrong my friend.

I had to buy a wii u to get nsmbu :( why couldn't they have put nsmbu on the tv?!

Sorry, and that was rude, but I felt like making a rude example of how if you want something you may need to buy extra things to have it work as you want it.

Um NO.

I have been using 5.1 for a long time as in every other device allows this no I shouldn't have to upgrade my fully functioning and capable audio setup because nintendo wants to make a leap and bound right over our current surround sound setups.

Well the time has come to go into dept to buy a HDMI passthrough reciever and whole new speaker system because nintendo wouldn't add DOLBY or DTS 5.1. Too bad I can't play ZombiU and Black Ops 2 in surround on my new console after upgrading to a optical transit audio setup.

Nintendo using only LPCM was a bad move I get no voices on Black Ops 2 during cutscenes. Can't hear Woods in the wheelchair.

THANK YOU

what are you on about ?

my dvd player transmits PCM,DTS, Dolby Digital through a optical lead to my amp
my blu-ray transmits PMC, Dolby TruHD, DTS Master Audio through HDMI

LPCM is the method of encoding generally used for uncompressed audio, although there are other methods such as pulse-density modulation (used also on Super Audio CD).
  • LPCM is used for the lossless encoding of audio data in the Compact disc Red Book standard (informally also known as Audio CD), introduced in 1982.
  • AES3 (specified in 1985) is a particular format using LPCM.
  • On PCs, the term PCM and LPCM often refer to the format used in WAV (defined in 1991) and AIFF audio container formats (defined in 1988). LPCM data may also be stored in other formats such as AU, raw audio format (header-less file) and various multimedia container formats.
  • LPCM has been defined as a part of the DVD (since 1995) and Blu-ray (since 2006) standards.[7][8][9] It is also defined as a part of various digital video and audio storage formats (e.g. DV since 1995,[10] AVCHD since 2006[11]).
  • Linear pulse-code modulation is used by HDMI (defined in 2002), a single-cable digital audio/video connector interface for transmitting uncompressed digital data.
  • RF64 container format (defined in 2007) uses LPCM and also allows non-PCM bitstream storage: various compression formats contained in the RF64 file as data bursts (Dolby E, Dolby AC3, DTS, MPEG-1/MPEG-2 Audio) can be "disguised" as PCM linear.[12]
http://en.wikipedia....code_modulation

For digital audio, if an HDMI device supports audio, it is required to support the baseline format: stereo (uncompressed) PCM. Other formats are optional, with HDMI allowing up to 8 channels of uncompressed audio at sample sizes of 16-bit, 20-bit and 24-bit, with sample rates of 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz and 192 kHz.[20][51] HDMI also supports any IEC 61937-compliant compressed audio stream, such as Dolby Digital and DTS, and up to 8 channels of one-bit DSD audio (used on Super Audio CDs) at rates up to four times that of Super Audio CD.[51] With version 1.3, HDMI supports lossless compressed audio streams Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.[51] As with the YCbCr video, device support for audio is optional. Audio Return Channel (ARC) is a feature introduced in the HDMI 1.4 standard.[52] "Return" refers to the case where the audio comes from the TV and can be sent "upstream" to the AV receiver using the HDMI cable connected to the AV receiver.[52] An example given on the HDMI website is that a TV that directly receives a terrestrial/satellite broadcast, or has a video source built in, sends the audio "upstream" to the AV receiver.[52]

http://en.wikipedia....I#Audio_support

did you watch this ?

i have my wii u connected via a HDMI 1.4 cable & it sends a 5.1 PCM signal to my amp, my amp then sends the correct information to my six speakers.

99.9% of amps since 1995 have supported LPCM/PCM (which is EXACTLY the same thing).

if you are asking about the Wii U having a separate optical output then you won't get it, because Nintendo are not going to redesign the Wii U to incorporate it.

Hey this needs to be heard by Nintendo why you feel so passionate about having it not be heard?

This is a serious issue man! Wii U is the only device on the planet that doesn't support industry standard decoding and alot of people are upset that their audio systems are useless. UNACCEPTABLE why do you care so much if its not your issue?

It's not a serious issue and you're making more out if it then you should. If you really want to get surround sound from the Wii U then go invest in a decent amp and speakers and stop whining and complaining.

I locked your thread because it made the third one you had posted on this same issue. You could have simply made a post detailing it in one of you preexisting threads. No matter how genuine you feel your position is, spamming threads like that will only make you look like a fool.

It's not a serious issue you just seem to be trolling and making it out to be a much bigger issue then it already is. If you're not happy I suggest you get rid of your Wii U and be done with it instead of continuously creating new threads and whining. And complaining about something that is not as big an issue as you make it out to be.

If you feel so passionate about this than why not contact Nintendo about it yourself. You do not have to constantly spam the forum with the same topic over and over again in multiply threads.
