Ive just realised on black ops, if your online and choose to play on your tv, and ur mate plays on gamepad, this actually add strain on the system and lowers the overall quality, so it got me thinking, while playing on the TV alone, always try to turn off the screen and just use it for inventory items, as anything else if going to affect framespersecond and quality

Just like splitscreen, multiplayer with two screens will cut your frames in half.

yep, so i was thinking of using this for a good team up, one on the gamepad, one on the tv, no need for voice as we are both in the same room, only problem is quality reduced and fps, that immediately puts you at a disadvantage to the rest of the players in the game, espacially for shooting at range as its hard to make out distant players etc

Its worth noting however that when displaying the SAME image on TV and gamepad, this will not happen.

The reason is that it is simply copying the TV image onto the gamepad. That takes very little GPU power, especially compared to rendering a completely different viewpoint.

Its the same on PC, if you have dual monitor you causing the GPU to do twice as much work, unless its just a mirror of your primarily monitor in which case its pretty much the same.

This is likely the reason Wii U uses a lower resolution screen for the gamepad rather than 720p, as developers would just have ended up rendering at a lower resolution and upscaling to 720p anyway. In fact if you have a 1080p TV, the gamepad is actually going to be closer to the games native resolution than the TV is.

In fairness, I think they should render the TV at 800x480 anyway when doing dual-play on TV and gamepad, so that the person on the TV doesn't have a resolution advantage. It would also reduce the need to cut back the game graphics and frame rate so much.

I've been playing Assassin's Creed III on the GamePad and I must say it looks just as good as it does on the TV.

Ya can't turn gamepad screen off when playing on TV can u? I've tried and it just wakes up as soon as you press a button. In black ops campaign..it just displays objectives and cutscenes..although I can obviously tell it to view on gamepad aswel..I just meant, you can't have the screen "off" at all if your using it?
