The Future of Nintendo's Portable Gaming

(I would assume that they are also going to do this with the Wii, but I will let that fly a bit longer because home consoles tend to do the same thing.)
I don't know why those doctors put me in here.

When will Nintendo create something new and fresh for their portable lineup of systems. Nintendo has been milking updated systems of the DS for years now, and that cow can't be milked much longer. They need to come up with something good and quick, because they are taking a hit from people wanting to play games on their phones and tablets.
Last I checked, the 3DS is outpacing the DS in terms of sales. That hardly looks or sounds like "taking a hit from people wanting to play games on their phones and tablets."
As for their next system, I still like the DS design as a whole. I'd imagine that it would support 3DS games as well as possibly bringing portable HD gaming to a Nintendo handheld, and a built-in second slide pad. It could be argued that Nintendo is milking the DS design, and they probably are. All I know is you don't fix what isn't broken, and the DS concept is far from broken. Why completely change a good thing?

Anyway i'm sure nintendo wouldn't release another DS after 4 different types of them (not including XL), anyway the 3DS is only a year and a half old, they won't be releasing a new handheld to it's actually needed.
Nintendo confirmed a while back that they were already working on the successor to the 3DS, mind you this would be the early planning stages.

This is where it ends

Look at the psp and ps vita they both took a dump. The ps vita is a great handheld but lack or games to fix.
The 3ds does have games coming out ever about ever other month. Nintendo also does well with there 1st party line up.
So i really dont think they should change it. If they change anything then it should be a gamepad handle system. lol. The only thing big N needs to do is push out more games, lower the price of there eshop games, and up the graphic some and all is good in my book.
Also all these tablet and cellphone games arent anything to me. They dont kill the gaming market. The only people i know that buys and plays those are old people that would buy a gaming system.
I brought GTA 3 on my s2 and its crap. It looks good but controls are funny and just not right for me. id rather play gta china wars on the ds or psp. Also had dead space and same thing.
The only think i play on my phone is angry bird and thats when waiting in line or picking someone up and waiting.
Im sorry i just play real games. So tablets and phones IMO dont even show up on my radar.
And nintendo is doing just fine, just needs to up the graphic and get some good 3rd party

Also on another point, when I said that they were taking a hit from people playing on their smartphones and tablets, these are just facts I heard from various sources on the internet, not based on what I see or do. I don't have a smartphone or tablet, so it doesn't really apply to me or most of the people I know. I play full on retail games. I believe that most Smartphone/tablet games are pointless gimmicks to me. I am on Nintendo's side here. It may not seem like it, but I am.
Any questions?

Maybe it won't have a gimmick?I think Nintendo's next handheld system will be HD, but I have no idea what the gimmick might be.
