Has anyone else had this problem where the Wii U won't stay connected to the Internet? like if your downloading a update and in the download management you'll see it keeps connecting and disconnecting and yet there are other times -late in the evenings or at night - where it stays connected.
Its been like this since launch and there doesn't seem to be a solution.

I had the same problem, kept loosing the connection all the time, even if i placed the WII U right beside the router..tried everything, but nothing helped, my PS3 and Xbox360 and iPad works just fine so there is no problem with my wireless router.

Bought a Ethernet Adapter just to se if using a cable would help and it did...works as charm no but dont know if it would solve your problem.

Same here. But it's out the question to use a cable when this thing has wireless. The wii had no problems.

Yeah, agree with you there but when the wireless dosen`t work properly then cable it`s better then nothing.
Never had any problems with the WII either.

I tried something I hadn't even thought of, I moved the homehub and the Wii U closer together and somehow it works.
It makes no sense as it's in the same place my Wii was and that's right next to my 360 Slim and Laptop.

since it drops out late in evenings and night, check if other networks could be causing interference. but in the interim, its great to see its fixed so far :)

WiFi hardware varies considerably. It could very well be the Wii had more sensitive WiFi hardware than the Wii U, better antenna positioning, etc.

Looking at teardowns of both consoles whoever, that seems unlikely. The Wii only had a single WiFi antenna, the Wii U has two (technically four, but two of them are for the gamepad). They are located in approximately the same location in the console too.

That is puzzling though, as I assumed the Wii U only had a single antenna with it being locked to 65Mbit and dual-antenna 802.11n usually does at least double that.

How to improve the Wii U download speed.

Having the same problem. Kinda disappointing. I'm in IT and I've tried every possible variation of troubleshooting - plausible or not - to no avail. I'm lucky if my Wii U stays connected to the internet for longer than 10 minutes, lol. Took me a grand total of 4 hours to download the update with all the constant drop outs. I'm pist!

It happened to me too but my internet is a wireless antenna and if the cell site i'm connected to is packed with calls & data it will drop,... will try to root my cell phone and use tether to test it.

I'm having the same issues. Tried everything to even connect in the first place, but now having the issue of staying connected. Cable works perfectly but wireless is just crap, to be blunt. Thankfully I don't depend on internet much, on consoles at least, but I would like to interact with friends more who play the same games on the Wii U as I do.

I have the same problems, but mostly with Miiverse. I have this problem when a lot of my family is on the internet. When no one is online it's as smooth as a kitten.

i have to restart my router almost daily for the wii u to reconnect with it. The only thing that stays constant with interent is our labtop. Not sure if its the wii u or the router/modem is going out.
