The first looked a little cool but I just lol'd on the second one.
I guess they dug up the Wii Zapper prototype idea when they made the E3 2011 Wii U video.

This is what makes Nintendo great, they try anything to see how it works and if they can improve on a good idea, they make it a reality. Love it!
