It took a while, but with the launch of the Wii U, Nintendo has finally provided an impressive amount of control to developers releasing their titles on the eShop. They’re able to set their own price, set their own release date, offer discounts on their game without prior approval, create demos, release patches, and add micro-transactions to their titles. Significant changes (such as changes to a game’s code) still require Nintendo’s approval, but this process seems to be quicker than the Xbox 360 and PS3.
