I'm worried that internet connections won't upgrade at the speed of gaming. For example, an 11 year old game, Sonic Adventure 2 360/PS3, is a 2.37GB download, which is a stress to even fast internet connections.

It will take a hour and a half or longer to download, probably.

That not stressing anything though its just how long it takes with your internet speed their higher speeds you just will have to pay more until Google Fiber forces companies to lower prices .

It will get worse though. 16GB+ on games that aren't even retail, probably.

Yes but Internet speeds will get better ,in fact (If you in the US) we in the US internet problems is mostly due to our dated infrastructure. You mainly just have to live with it for a couple more years just do what I do with Steam let it download overnight normally most downloads will finish by the time you wake up.

Internet connections speeds aren't so much of an issue as the throttling of downloads by the companies.. Even a 16gb game should downloaded in 3 hours or so with a 50mb download speed. However I highly doubt they will ever remove download limitations on servers..so if we are bottlenecked at speeds between...say 5-10mb per user and less when more people are accessing it..then our internet speeds mean nothing.

Oh, you're back already.

2 GB downloads for me in 10 minutes.
I download 1.4GB files pretty much daily, and they usually take just 4 or 5 minutes.

Rage is 22GB, Max Payne 3 is around 30GB. I had no issues downloading both with the crappy internet in Australia.

Ohh and if you look at some ps3 games the size is massive (Uncharted 3 had to cut bits and pieces out to have it fit on a blu ray disc and Killzone 3 is over 40GB).

I have the somewhat quick and easy solution to this...

Don't buy retail games digitally. :I...

I mean, I get your point, and I do agree with you. I live in a somewhat rural area, and we're lucky to have our internet right now. It's not the fastest thing ever, but it's not slow. However, it does take some time to download stuff. Like 600MBs an hour. :/

We've tried to get faster internet, but that only results in a company trying to stiff us.
