so,i was wondering,is it possible to use usb solid state drives with the wii u and if so,do you believe at this early stage if there is any performance improvements,i wanted to know as i plan on gettin a wii u for xmasxmas and dont want a hard drive.

There will probably be a bottleneck from USB.

Pretty much what Potato said - not only that but since its usb 2.0 I doubt it would be nearly as effective. Plus there is no need for it - this a much different monster than a resource hogging PC. You would just be throwing money away.

I'd get 500GB. Larger hard drives are almost always slightly faster, and you get more GBs per dollar.
Get one that plugs into the wall either way though.
