I have been playing video games since the first Nintendo, but for whatever reason I cannot figure out how to play 2 player Nintendo Land with my son. Me using the gamepad, him using the wii u controller. When I try to add another player, it says "Playing this mode requires 1 Wii Remote. Pair more Wii Remotes via HOME menu". So you're telling me you can't play 2 players with the gamepad and wii u controller? Say it ain't so....

Uh...I dunno if you noticed this, but the Wii U Pro Controller isn't a Wii remote in the slightest. In shape, size, or function.

You need to go out and get a Wii remote with the Wii MotionPlus accessory for Nintendo Land's 2-player titles.

Yeah, I realized they are completely different items, but I am a little disappointed you can't play 2 player with the wii u remote and gamepad, looks like I gotta go grab a wii remote, considering I don't have a Wii.

Well, it only makes sense for quite a few games that it requires the motion controller. I will agree that while some games could be controlled by the Pro Controller, it does make more sense to get some Wii remotes, if only to play some Wii titles you've missed out on.

Disappointed? Did you buy the Wii U without looking at the back of the game's case (if you bought the game physically) or not watch all of the gameplay videos of Nintendo Land? How did you expect the Wii U controller to use motion controls?

Also, you can have your son use the wii remote to assist you in 1 player minigames, cool bits.

Didn't know much about Nintendo Land before the purchase. Wife bought it for my kid and I for an early Christmas present. The Ps3 remote uses motion, so maybe I was under the assumption the Wii U remote would.

The stylus is tucked neatly in the back of the gamepad.

It's always best to check the back of the game cases to see which types of controllers they support as it does vary. I don't have Nintendo Land but I've got Zombi U which only supports the Gamepad in single player and the pro controller and Gamepad in local multiplayer. I've also got New Super Mario Bros. U which only supports the Gamepad and Wii remote in single player and the same controllers in local multiplayer. It doesn't strangely support the pro controller. I believe Call Of Duty Black Ops II supports all the various controllers in both single, local and online multiplayer. It can be confusing and can be seen as both a detriment to Wii U controls as well as a good thing regards choice. Some games also work better with certain types of controllers then others.
