Should I get the Original "Legend of Zelda" if I'm a fan? AND, should I use remaining points to buy "The Adventure of Link", or something else?

Hey, I have 1100 wii points left over at the moment and in the next 1-2 months, I wanted to buy the first Zelda game, ever! (As I have never played it before.)
Is it worth it, if I'm a fan of the series? I heard it's a great game, and I like 8bit graphics :)

Btw: How is The Adventure of Link? Should I also get it, or is it a complete worth of time as I'll keep checking having to check faqs and walkthroughs? (At least, that's what I heard...)

Currently I have 100Wii points. I'll get 1000 wii points so I have enough to buy the game. Then I'll have a total of 1100 points. I know it costs 500 wii points, but what should I do with the 600 I have left over? There isn't much I can do with them anyway, besides buy The Adventure of Link, or some other game. Any recommendations on what I should do with 600 Wii points? (No, I won't buy a Bit Trip games as I already have the first one, and I'll get all the games for the 3DS ;) )

In short: Should I buy the first zelda game if I'm a fan of the series, and what should I buy with 600 Wii points?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Most likely I'll get the game anyways, but I want to know what you guys think of it, and I don't want to waste the remaining 600 Wii points -.-

I would recommend "The Legend of Zelda" even if you weren't a fan. "Zelda II" is a great game, but it's hard as (bleep). So if you don't mind getting a ton of game overs, go for "Zelda II"

The original Zelda is very difficult nowadays, and quite confusing. I don't know how people beat it without guides. Even finding the first dungeon is a pain.

That's what makes it an adventure. You have to be willing to explore. Bomb every wall, burn every bush, enter every cave, you must leave no stone unturned!

That's how I like my games. I'm bored by the Zelda games we have right now as they are too easy. I like it better with exploring and I never use faqs or walkthroughs for the Legend of Zelda, or every other game for that matter, as it takes away from the experience.

I wonder what it is with gamers these days. Used to being able to save everywhere, having a super guide/hints, being able to check the internet, and always looking for help if they can't pass a game after 1 minute of trying :)

The original LoZ is fantastic. If you've never beaten it get on it right now! The next time you come across some extra Wii Points, I highly recommend A Link To The Past for SNES.

I wouldn't recommend Zelda II, It's hard and it's too different. The Original is AMAZING. I would spend the other points on A Link to the Past for the SNES.

Sadly, as far as I know aLttP is more expensive than 600 wii points....
