Random Wifi Disconnects

Wifi keeps randomly disconnecting. I had to do the big firmware update, with maybe reconnecting BACK online around 100 times before it stayed there somehow. I was lucky if it would have gone 10 seconds before getting an error code. My PC, Xbox 360, 3DS, and Vita all use wifi in this room without any problems. Is the wifi component defective? What should I do about this? I seen this same exact problem online.

I am on Wii U's default browser with the OP done on PC.No problems with static browser. Youtube however fails to play videos, its update failed and forced to restart several times. ZombiU has bad connection problems as it boots me offline. Downloading Uplay showed that it cycled between connected and offline. Miiverse sometimes shows error messages when selecting an icon. And even for a short time eShop wouldn't load up.

I know that Nintendo was always behind the curve for online functionality, but this is pathetic.

And my router is fine. Literally everything else connected to it is normal. They don't disconnect.

- Do you have an assigned static local ip address for all of these? If not your Wii U could be conflicting with any of these (auto obtain address/dns is not always the best option).
- How many devices are connecting to your router at once? Some routers are just crappy on this when connecting multiple devices at once. There are also settings in some routers where some devices can take priority over the bandwidth if it is really pounding for some major connection. You may want to invest in a better router or if your router is a dual-band split some of your devices to another WAP.
- What wireless protocol, band, and/or security methods are you using? Some devices do not support some protocols, bands, or security modes at all and/or very well. Sort of like the NDS/DSi does not support WPA/WPA2 and 3DS/XL does not really support Wireless N only setups.
- Are you getting a good signal from your router? Being to far or trying to connect through thick walls can be an issue.

There is quiet a few possible issues this could be and yet you didn't even mention your router or any more in-depth details about your setup. (Other than some of the devices connected to the WAP).

its probably your router.

Complaining is not really going to make it go away and it is not just the Wii U. There are threads like this every where on any device. Only thing I can see more of complaints for Nintendo devices are not so friendly with some security methods, similar to how the PSP and it was full of these topics.

Everything uses its own static IP. My PC, another PC, my Xbox 360, 3DS and Vita all go on that. No problems whatsoever even if they are all long in relation to each other. Wii U always goes offline no matter what. I use WPA2 AES, which is configured to all of my devices.

All my devices have a "weak" signal, but they never disconnect due to that. Wii U should be the same way, but it keeps disconnecting.

All I want is a solution for it to not disconnect on me all the time. It is not the signal strength at all.

I decided to do the only thing I could do.

I changed my Router's freqency to 1. That didn't help matters at all, and made them worse. I then settled on changing it to 11. I was then, without interruption, able to watch a few 4 minute Youtube videos (Planetside 2 on Mattherson, my home server if you want to know), I was able to go flawlessly to the eShop, and I was able to post a note on the Miiverse channel.

I am still unconvinced this works. If I were to, say, download New Super Mario Bros. U withoiut ANY interruption, then I will say that it is fixed. But things are looking up so far.

There is an issue with the wifi connection in the wiiu... It happens to several users, we just have to find the common issues to locate what is causing it.
Perhaps nintendo is already fixing it for the next update.

Hopefully. Maybe if this is the fix for it, they should issue a warning to users to switch their routers to Channel 11.
