Hi do any of you use any of the above for your Wii U ? Also im using a QED hdmi cable as an upgrade to the boxed in cable and the difference is very noticable.

The box in cable is not the best its not even gold plated for better signal quality but it gets the job done and looks great on my plasma. I have my wii u plugged into a surge protector I plugg all my expensive electronics into a surge protector for extra protection.

Me too i use a belkin

Just been on nintendos website and while it says the power bricks have a circuit breaker built in , they DO recommend a good surge protector...so all good

Not sure why you would think a different HDMI cable would give a better picture. HDMI cables are all the same quality whether they cost 99p/99 cents or £100/$100.

I disagree, the WiiU HDMI cable feels pretty high quality to me, its very rigid so its either solid core or has a hefty shielding on it. Those things are the most important factors for a cable carrying a signal reliably and without RF interference.

You may notice in fact that the cheap HDMI cables from eBay are gold plated, that does NOT mean they are as good or better than more expensive cables that are not gold plated. See this discussion http://www.avrev.com...ions-worse.html

It is true though that if you already get a good picture without issues, swapping the cable will make no difference. The reason is being a digital signal, its pretty obvious when you have cable problems. You will get things like the picture/sound dropping out completely, or random red/green pixels on the screen. If you don't get those things, the cable is fine.

In my experience and that of loads of people on various forums as well as people I know in person regards the PS3 and Xbox 360 it doesn't make a difference what HDMI cable you use or how much it costs. I have a 99p HDMI cable I bought off Amazon, a £10 one I bought from Woolworths before they closed down and a £25 one I bought from Dixons ( now Currys/PC World ) and they all perform the same on both my PS3 and Xbox. At the very least there is no noticeable difference. I doubt its any different for the Wii U.

Nope sorry this does make a difference. This was £50 from richer sounds. Im surprised just how much better it is tbh

I use some ching chong brand HDMI cable, Seems to work very well and i have all my consoles plugged into a Belkin Surge board.

Use a UPS on all your AV equipment. Plug that UPS into a 3000+ joule surge protector.
UPS's have surge protection. But when the MOV's burn in the UPS from a voltage spike, UPS have to be replaced. Cheaper to replace s SP.
A surge, which is a voltage spike that lasts nanoseconds, can be caused by many things. Like an appliance or heat/ac turning on and off.
Also, the when your power flickers, it can damage your electronics. A surge protector would not help in that situation. Only a UPS would. I know first hand. Lost a bigscreen TV that was only on a surge protector.

HDMI cable with either work or not. There is no difference pic quality.

There are differences in cables such as transfer rates and depending on your version of HDMI. Yes, there are different versions of HDMI 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 & 1.4. If your TV supports HDMI 1.4 and you buy let's say a cable that is 1.0 then your picture is limited. It would take too long to explain all the differences but the cable you buy absolutely matters, you don't need to buy persay a monster or high priced cable you just need to buy the RIGHT cable for the version of HDMI for your television. If your television supports anything higher than 1.0 then you want to buy the correct cable in that revision number but don't waste your money or time buying one higher (example if your television supports HDMI 1.2 don't buy a revision lower and also don't buy the revision higher.

Do yourself a favor follow this Wiki link and read the revisions portion for a longer and more indepth explanation of why it absolutely makes a difference but remember you don't need to buy high priced cables just the correct revision. I'll provide a link for where I purchase my cables, they're low priced but their quality is very good, Monoprice has served me well in the past.

No it doesn't. If you think it does its probably you wanting peace of mind for spending more for the cable then you needed to.

I've been telling people this for AGES! It was confirmed a while ago during a test on some gadget programme on tv, they tested identical top end HDTV's running an identical bluray movie on identical top end players, all the tvs and players were set up the same (picture settings etc) and they tested hdmi cables ranging from a fiver up to 150 quid, i think it was, and they stated there was no difference, or if there was it was pretty much unnoticable.....i still buy reasonable priced ones though lol, just in case, but saying that my folks hdtv n bluray player are connected via a 99p hdmi cable and it looks great!

All my consoles/players are connected by cheap hdmi cables as usually the cheap ones are longer I find. Which suits my set up perfectly. I've never had a problem with any of them.
