Reasons why Wii U may win the console war:

The Wii U has released a year ahead of the other systems, allowing for a base to be created and for them to work out problems with the system ahead of time. Hopefully, it will have a whole game library by the game XBox 720 and Playstation Omni are released. Nintendo's exclusives tend to be more established than Sony's and Microsoft's, as in longer running. The Wii U will likely have the best Kart and best Fighting game, Mario Kart and Smash Bros. Also, the Wii U has mostly taken what the Wii has and improved on it, improving on an already well-selling system. The systems will be the least expensive, less expensive than the XBox 720 and Playstation Omni. The Wii U is less gimmicky than the XBox 720 and Playstation Omni will likely be. Compared to these other two, it doesn't use innovation as a gimmick. It doesn't use power as one either. Wii owners will have more incentive to get one, since it can use some of the same hardware (controllers) as the Wii.

Reasons why Wii U may lose:

Nintendo may win without really winning, because they're losing money right now. They sometimes take a chance too many with their games. Zelda Skyward Sword was a chancy, hit or miss game. They may not have enough of their franchise games in store, or may take too long getting them here. There's a possibility that the Wii U won't be the absolute main system for RPGs. We don't know yet. There's a possibility that multiplatform games on the XBox 720 and Playstation Omni could be significantly better than on the Wii U due to their power advantages.

I do have to say that I somewhat agree with what you've said on why the Wii U may win, but as for it losing...well, your argument about them losing money is rather invalid. Yes, the Wii U is being sold at a loss, but Nintendo themselves have stated that a single game sold makes the Wii U profitable. And Nintendo is no longer selling 3DS systems at a loss either.

As for multiplatform games being significantly better than on the Wii U...I, and nobody else can really contest that at this point because we don't know how the Omni/720 are actually going to perform. But I do know that even if the Wii U may not have the graphical capabilities of the Omni/720, it has the tablet controller, which could make things much easier to play in the long run.

Well if we go the way of saying that the Wii U will be better because of the Gamepad, and that the other two systems won't have one (I don't know this for a fact), I'd like to make a point that the Wii U will get even better:

Apparently we will be able to use not one but two Gamepads in the future. So Nintendo has another surprise in store. Games have to support them first though and they have to sell the Gamepads separately.

I guess it depends on what you mean by winning. Last gen Nintendo won in terms of system sales but from the consumer stand point lost last generation I would imagine in the eyes of most due to a lack of third party support and a console that was simply to weak to keep up with its competition.

Each system in the next-gen will be based on a "gimmick" whether it's bad or good.

Wii U: The Focus is on the GamePad controller. It's a gimmick, but in the good way. I definitely love it. :)

720/Durango: Kinect 2.0...... Need I say more? Oh wait... What about that idea where it displays the game throughout the room on the walls?

PS4/Omni/Orbis: The Move/Dualshock mash-up seems like it might be used on the new PS. And then we have the Omniviewer.

As for power, it's still unknown. Heck, even after the launch, nobody knows what the Wii U is capable of. All we know is that the CPU is under clocked Probably due to the focus on the GPGPU. Maybe Microsoft and Sony will follow suit so that game engines would take advantage of it.

I agree with this.

We may end up without clear winners and losers next generation. This kind of happened this generation as well. You could argue PS3 did worse because of the high price of units and launch, but it still is at the same number of sales as the 360. Or you could say the Wii was most successful because it sold 30 million more than the competition, but it didn't get the vast majority of multiplatform games. Take into account handhelds and it gets even harder. The PSP and DS were incredibly popular. Did Microsoft lose simply because they had no skin in the game?
