I was in the store and I wanted to play some Wii U, but the console wasn't on. I pressed the powerbutton on the Gamepad (couldn't touch the console off course) but it told me that it couldn't connect to the console. I don't own a Wii U yet, so.. can't you turn it on with the Gamepad? I could use it as a remote for the TV tho.. lol
No sig.

Yes you can. The on button on the Gamepad turns it and the console on.

Strange, then why didn't it turn on the console in the store? The employee told me it did work with the Xbox 360.

Possibly because it had lost its sync or connection with the console. It certainly works for people at home.

It definitely does work - the gamepad may not of been synced with the console. Who knows.

Tapping the power button turns on the GamePad, and holding it down turns the console on/off. The awesome part about this is that you can turn on your TV AND the console via the GamePad.

If the GamePad wasn't conneting to the console, make sure the top of the GamePad is facing the console.

It definitely turns on from your GamePad, just like your TV will.
