Last year, we raised $5,669 for charity: water as a part of Project for Awesome — an annual, YouTube-based event. This will provide over 250 people with access to clean drinking water and, as a result, change their lives in countless ways. Because the blogs and forums and YouTube channel are still around though, I’d love to do it all over again and raise another $5,000, which is enough to build an entire well for a community.
The process is simple:
- Visit this page. It’s the fundraising page that’s hosted with charity: water itself.
- Donate whatever amount you feel comfortable with. Every dollar makes a big difference.
- Feel awesome about yourself.
So the money is put to work as soon as possible, the deadline is midnight on December 31st, 2012. If I were to extend the campaign beyond this point, it’d take months for the money to be used. This is the same as last year though, and we raised more than the full amount with days to spare, so it won’t be a problem.
As for what you get for the donation, there is that wonderful warm and fuzzy feeling from doing something good for another human being, but there’s also going to be a real-world reward for raising the full amount. I’m just not sure what that reward is. At the moment, I’m thinking of dying my hair blue for a month, but feel free to make suggestions in the comments. Just make it something most of the readers can enjoy.
That’s all for now though, so remember to donate here: mycharitywater.org/nintendo3ds2012, and thanks for sticking with the blog — or, if you’re a new reader, welcome. I love that we’re able to change the world in this small way, and it’s possible because of every single person reading these words. So yeah, you’re awesome.

P.S. If we manage to raise $10,000, I’ll write a song on ukulele, sing it in front of a camera, and post it on the blog. Since I can’t sing though, I’ve making this offer since I think $10,000 might be a little too ambitious. But feel free to prove me wrong. (And as for the topic of the song, that’d be based on reader’s input.)
