What controller(s) can you use to play Virtual Console N64 games on the Wii U?
I checked Wiki (not the greatest source, I know), and the only thing I am clear about is that you can't use the standard Wiimotes. It's hard to understand on the others. Can I purchase one of those Wii U Pro controllers and use that?
Controller used for N64 Virtual Console games?

No. The Virtual Console, for the moment at least, runs through the Wii Menu, which locks out all Wii U controllers. You have to use a Classic Controller, because the Wii U dropped Gamecube support. The reasin you can't use a Wiimote is because the N64 controller had mire buttons than the Wiimote and Nunchuck combined.

Okay, thank you very much for the quick response. Will keep that in mind when I am stocking up on stuff for my Wii U. Can't wait to play some of my old classics again.

Picked up the xenoblade bundle on christmas which came with a classic pro controller. I got Mario party 2 free off of club Nintendo and the controller works perfectly for it . You can pick up one of these controllers by itself for about 20 bucks .
