This is what Aonuma said when asked about why Link doesn't speak in Skyward Sword.

"Personally, I don't want to have Link speak in the game," says producer Eiji Aonuma. "We haven't had him talk at all up to this point. It's part of the series history. It would just, to me, break the image of Link to have him speak."

I pretty much agree with that. Also that Legend of Zelda cartoon has put me off for life.

That's right, Link speaking in a Zelda game would just ruin the whole image of the Zelda series.

If Link would talk then it'll disrupt the time continuum, as the time line will get messed up!

No, I would start to dislike him a whole lot more, if that happened! Look at Mario and Luigi, they don't speak. Well unless they say "I'm the winner" or "thank you for, playing my game" but, I mean actual talking like speaking sentences. That would 'kill' link in my opinion. If Mario started speaking, (in sentences) then I think people wouldn't like him as much either.

I cant see link talking anything other than yes or no it would just feel strange .I could see them letting mario talk but I wouldnt want him to talk atleast with his current voice actor since I wasnt botherd by mario talking in the cartoon but His voice just doesnt match him that much in games .

But if the Zelda series ever got a proper Anime, then I would most certainly would want him to talk. Though I would like him to bethe type of person who just doesn't talk much in general. It seems to fit his character
...And, no, the Cartoon is NOT considered a proper anime >.>


...Whether or not Nintendo will ever try licensing link out to an animation studio ever again is a completely different question, of course!

I don't mind it being outside of the gaming world, I'm just saying he doesn't usually talk in his games. Most of the time, he only says a couple of words, in his games.

Even if this may sound a little weird, I don't want Link to talk, but I want his face to show emotion. Not as much as the Toon one, but still, some emotion wouldn't hurt.

I don't think Link should talk in full sentences, even as the art styles in the games get more detailed/realistic. I think it's an essential part of Link's character. Grunts, nodding/shaking his head and the occasional word are fine though, in my opinion.

Ya, I liked his emotions/nodding in The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
