Interesting! But also your taxes, I would assume, so as for disposable income...anybody's guess! It was just shocking because all of those prices are still higher than regular prices at a place like Amazon US. I then assumed that the Aussie Dollar must be worth less but it's actually a little more.

I tend to order most of my games online, from countries like England and Hong Kong, Only because the prices vary so much compared to instore. I got Halo 4 delivered to my door on launch day for about $54aud. Yet in shops the cheapest i saw was like $80aud. Im all for supporting the local game stores, But when the price is that different i cannot justify it. When there isnt much gap in price like say $10-20 then i will support local.

And...I'm glad the name of the place is actually "Dick Smith" instead of "Dicksmith," as it reads in the thread title. The latter sounds like someone who circumcises infants or does cosmetic surgery for a living!

He is actually a pretty famous Australian. Not only does he own a massive electronics retail chain he also has his pretty decent range of foods out.

Guys in US should feel pretty lucky, on launch most games will begin from $70-100 a pop, steam is fairly cheap however it still has a much higher asking price in Aus for no real given reason. It extends to software as well with Adobe charging $500 more for Adobe Masterclass.

Anyway sorry for the poor title, im still in school and my grammar is pretty bad.

games have always been expensive in Australia, I always tend to import my xbox 360 games from the UK despite the 1-2 week shipping time...

Donkey Kong Country Returns for $50, pretty cheap seeing as EB Games are selling this for $60 pre-owned <_<

Most stores here still charge you $88+ on Mario Wii games, heck even Mario Kart DS remains at $50.

EbGames really needs to die. I don't have any idea how it is still alive. They charge so much and generally have horrid customer service yet for some reason people still go back there.

As for this sale, nothing really special.

Its because all the mothers with no clue walk in there and drop down hundreds of dollars on full priced games for their kids. Not knowing they could easily go to big w etc and save $20-30 a title.

VERRRYYY OCCASIONALLY EB will have a good price on some of their games (mostly old preowned), but i can definitely agree EB is a rip off.
