i have formatted two harddrives for the wii u (one gtech with an external power source and 1 lacie using a y adapter.
each goes through the formatting process just fine but when you go to system settings it is not listed as an external storage source.
i have tried all four usb ports on the wii u.
thoughts?

I recall reading that some drives may have compatibility issues. I also recall that only the rear USB ports should be used for drives. Maybe the size of your drives? 2TB is the cap for now.

thanks orion -
one is a lacie and the other is a gtech so i am guessing that is the problem :/
hubang - yeah they were plugged into the rear and are less than 2TB so based on Orion's post I am guessing they are just incompatible :/
