I know i need a wii controller but are you able to plugg these in the front 'usb' ports on the wii u? someone told me i need a nunchuck? are their any wireless controllers?

The Wii remote is always connected wirelessly over buetooth and the classic controller/nunchuck just plugs into the wiimote. You will also need a classic controller for N64 games. If you are talking about Wii mode it depends on the game, but look on the box.
