Interesting. I think (if true) this means that Microsoft will be announcing the next Xbox at E3 2012, since this would eat into their console sales.

Well Microsoft is already working on the next Xbox. and they were planning to unveil it next year at E3.
They are doing this due to the fact Nintendo, out of the three major game companies is going to release the next gen system soon.
So Microsoft doesn't want to lose to Nintendo. Its a Business thing lol.

Features-

1. Better graphics
2. Better online
3. Better betters
4. BETTER BETTER BETTER
5. And nothing UNIQUE unlike the awesome Wii U and 3DS!
(But seriously, may be a kinect-installed Xbox? A game that contacts your phone? Like the lollipop comercial: The world will never know! (Until 2012) EDIT: Isn't Windows 9 already out?

I hope this is a lie. If a Windows 8 PC, can play Xbox 360 games, than a lot of the users on Xbox wont want to play it anymore.
Unless they still prefer the Xbox 360.

I don't think this is true... In fact, I'm pretty sure it's not.

Even if Windows 8 does give support for playing the games, your hardware would have to be much stronger than the xbox to play the games. Not only that, but Microsoft would have to go through a LOT of tech support to get it working properly. Really, it would be too much of a pain, and MS would rather make money from selling the consoles in the first place...

Erm...no. Gaming consoles are built for pure processing power, which wouldn't be cost-efficient in computer form. And it's like Wertville said, the amount of tech support needed just to get the darn thing running would be ridiculous.
