netflix gamepad battery question

does anybody know if you can put the gamepad into idle mode or something while watching netflix as it drains the battery for no reason while i don't want it too be on.

wii u premium, new super mario bros u, darksiders 2, call of duty black ops 2, zombiu

 

blue 3ds xl, resident evil revelations, zelda ocarina of time

You can turn off the display from controller settings in the home menu, but to control netflix it'll turn back on etc.

Hopefully Nintendo will have an update, if possible, for the gamepad to turn the screen off when not used for x amount of times. It just makes sense when using netflix, amazon, etc.

i just keep it pluged in while on netflix =/.

I do too but they should have had the gamepad screen turn off after a while of not being used.

You can't as there is no separate on/off button for it. The on/off button on the Gamepad controls both it and the console.
