#149997 Wii U Pro Controller disapointment, needs a fix!

Posted by Hank Hill on 20 December 2012 - 10:30 AM

^ does it make sense a wii mote is compatible with Super Mario Bros U but the pro controller isnt?
the gamepad feels more comfortable than a wiimote, so its even worse.
Gamecollector, you seriously need to stop kissing nintendos ass. I know im not the only person here disappointed that I can't use the pro controller. Don't hate on me for expressing my opinion towards niintendo, im not a fanboy like you.
Anyway, The gamepad is like $150 apparently, so ill be taking good care of it... If it breaks ill be forced to buy another one, thanks nintendo...

Ooh, he pulled out the fanboy card. Haven't been called that one in a long time. Thanks for that. :o

First off, I've already said that it was a bit confusing as to why Mario Bros U didn't support the Pro Controller.

Second off, what hate? I'm only pointing out flaws in your various statements.

Third off, don't ever pull the fanboy card so hastily. If I were a fanboy, I wouldn't own anything except Nintendo systems and would mindlessly bash everything else. My PS3 and Steam account says quite the contrary.

so, the pro controller was made for casual gamers?
all your points fail, i suggest you leave this thread at once and never come back.

Never said that. I'm just saying that the use of "hardcore gamers" makes me ill because that's normally a trope saddled with people who mindlessly bash anything outside of the norm and games that are not a FPS/extremely bloody/gory type game..

All of my points hold ground. The only thing you've been doing is being rude and pulling the fanboy card instead of actually trying to counter any of my statements.

I suggest you don't dole out the "never come back brainless fanboy" card ever again.

#149981 Wii U Pro Controller disapointment, needs a fix!

Just picked one up, and apparently I can't use it. It's not compatible with most games,

Call of Duty: Black Ops, Darksiders 2, Assassin's Creed 3, I could go on.

including Super Mario Bros and Nintendo Land. What a Joke.

Mario Bros I can slightly understand, but why Nintendo Land? That game is specifically designed to be played with the GamePad and Wiimotes.

If Nintendo is making games strictly to be used with the gamepad then... .well im just at a loss for words. Its stupid to say the least.

So wait, it's stupid that Nintendo is making games that utilize the controller that comes standard with every Wii U sold? Yeah, I guess that is pretty stupid. /endsarcasm

We need to start a petition or something so Nintendo can patch the problem asap.
I never would of thought buying a standard controller wouldn't be compatible with any game.

A petition so you can use a standard controller to play games that were quite obviously not made with the standard controller in mind. Sounds legit.

Once again, the Pro Controller is compatible with quite a few Wii U games already, as listed above.

I disliked the wii due to motion controls being the main focus... for example, playing donkey kong and having to shake the controller to roll... motion controls take away precision and ruin games slightly for the "hardcore" type of player.

I actually liked motion controls a great deal. Certainly helped out with FPS-type games in terms of aiming.

As for motion controls taking away "precision" as you put it, Wii Sports Resort, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Red Steel 2 would all love to have a word with you. Plus, quite a few Wii games either used no motion controls or were compatible with a, as you put it, "standard" controller such as the Classic Controller Pro or GameCube controller.

:throws up at the mentioning of "hardcore" players:

I thought Niintendo was done with the gimmicks and were getting serious to compete with the xbox and ps3... what a disappointment.

Uh...right. So suddenly because a standard controller isn't compatible with games that in no way had the standard controller in mind when they were created, Nintendo is no longer serious about "competing with the Xbox and PS3."

I think that overall the Wii U is doing rather well. Its launch title offerings were plentiful and offered a little of something for everybody.

Now as for the people that are inevitably going to latch onto my back screaming "BUT WII U HAS NO BIOSHOCK INFINITE METAL GEAR RISING TOMB RAIDER BHWEREJAL:DJKASFJ" those games are already years in development, long before the Wii U dev kits were even sent out, and the Wii U doesn't have as large of an initial userbase as the PS360 so there's little to no point to spend the many millions of dollars it would take to port the system over to the Wii U as of this time.

So yeah. I'm not signing any petition, nor am I with you on this front. Your complaints are...well, rather ridiculous, to be frank.

#145714 I own a 360 ps3 and a wii. Do i really need a wii u?

Posted by Ixchel on 08 December 2012 - 07:57 PM

Yea i know stupid thread!! guess i'm just killing time I know i'm going to buy it. was just trying to be disiplined and atleast wait for some kind of deal. but that probably won't happen..

To make you feel better, the probability of a special deal happening won't be until at least next holiday season imo. Depending on how well it sells during the rest of the year, it may not even have one for the holidays. The Wii took 3 years to get a price cut, so the nearest deal would  probably be a bundle of some sort. Probably either Nintendo Land or Mario ones, judging by the 3DS' in NA.

#136746 An honest Wii U review (finally!)

A little biased tbh, no way it deserves a 9/10 as it stands.

#136763 An honest Wii U review (finally!)

Posted by bornsupercharged on 23 November 2012 - 10:02 AM

So all the negative reviews are dishonest?

Yeah, apparently anything negative is untruthful. I realize we are on a Wii U site, so of course there are going to be fan boys with blinders on that can't see the problems and won't admit there are issues. But outside, in the real world, people are a lot more willing to come to terms with the fact that the Wii U is currently buggy and slow.

#133235 Are people over-praising the Wii U?

Posted by Rubix87 on 19 November 2012 - 05:41 AM

I'm tired of people saying "Don't worry, Nintendo will be great because I know they can" without providing any solid evidence. The slow memory and slow CPU are a fact until proven otherwise. And all the Wii U problems are also a fact. Nintendo deserves no credit when the Wii U is having all these problems.

No, no one is over praising the Wii U. If you look at the mountains of data, your posts included, there are more negatives than positives. This is an over stimulated bias that has resonated within the industry for years, and if you have so much doubt and dissatisfaction, simply don't get one. Get a PS4 or a 720. If specs are your true motivating factor, then you are not going to be pleased with the Wii U. If you need 15 cores and a 7xxx series chip, then you don't want the Wii U, you want something else. But this constant thread creating of the same silly argument is getting old. If you are so unsure, don't buy one. It's as simple as that. Geez...

#123416 US Wii U commercial

Posted by Spleenzorio on 01 November 2012 - 10:25 AM

No need to be disappointed in something that wasn't made specifically for you. The hardcore players already know what the Wii U is all about, why do they need to show them stuff they already know? This commercial is for those people who don't live on the Internet and watch reviews or read websites every day.

#116008 Sensor Bar

Posted by Nollog on 08 October 2012 - 02:47 PM

Okay, if the system uses Bluetooth (such as ps3 and xbox 360) or similar technology no it doesn't need a sensor bar to wirelessly connect the Gamepad. If it uses infrared ((Wii uses this) which is seriously outdated and they need to just stop using) then yes it will need the sensor bar.

Nintendo's wiimote's use bluetooth to communicate from controller to console.
The infrared camera in each wiimote looks for the points in the sensor bar for the IR/pointer functions.

The uPad uses a variant of bluetooth, probably. but the bandwidth it would need to have such low latency between the stuff on the big screen and the uPad is some magic Nintendo themselves figured out.

#117013 Do you really want the deluxe?

Posted by Guy Fieri on 12 October 2012 - 05:41 PM

The extra 24GB of space will help me since I plan on downloading lots of games and having tons of save data for my retail games. I've wanted Nintendo Land since it was announced, though I see where the hate comes from ( people just don't like these casual games I guess). Plus the Nintendo Network Premium is a good deal ( does it last forever, or is it just a two year trial?). So a game ( which is already $60, so you're already saving $10 on the game), 24GB of extra space, a rewards program and some extra gamepad stands are worth the extra $50 to me.

#81072 Microsoft and Sony spoiler tactics for wii u launch?

Posted by Usman Mohammad on 27 May 2012 - 08:59 AM

I'm saying they will try to derail the Wii U close to launch not at E3, Nintendo has the upperhand of going last for conferences at E3 because if Sony and Microsoft announce something big Nintendo could announce something bigger.

They are too busy focussed on their products. I believe you are confused, its TRUE they could derail Nintendo but that would be indirectly.

I honestly don't think that either company would, Microsoft is too heavily focused on metro, they have to reveal Woodstock(the Zune replacement) and have a bigger emphasis on the media capabilities of their console. They have a legion of halo fans to impress with Halo 4. Derail Nintendo? Indirectly yes, they are emphasis their products and presenting them to consumers which also tends to be Sony and Nintendos audience as well.

Same thing applies to Sony, they are going to have to commit to vita, impress with gow campaign, last of us and all stars. That is to current console owners and again potential owners which are the same consumers.

I agree with the other person too that these companies are not trying to detail Nintendo.

Be a fan not a fanboy.
