#25896 What is your most feared video game enemy(ies)?

Posted by Wertville on 04 September 2011 - 08:52 AM

There are several video game enemies I always try to veer away from as far as I can. Among them are Like Likes, Big Berthas, and generally other things that try to eat you alive.

I think I have phagophobia.

...I lol'd. I wonder if anyone else noticed the Irony...

Anyway, its been a while since anything in a game (That can be called an enemy) has scared me that much... Probably the goats, I guess. But not really. It's hard to be scared with Ryushiki07's art >.>

#24845 Article: Apple To Beat Wii U To Tablet Gaming Market?

Here is a similar separate article: http://myona.com/201...les-ipad-prove/

That article proved even less than the GameRant article...which already proved nothing.

#24768 Article: Apple To Beat Wii U To Tablet Gaming Market?

Posted by Wertville on 29 August 2011 - 12:48 PM

"If only Nintendo was willing to make iOS games (at a competitive price), maybe we would see Zelda iOS or Super Mario iPad Brawl. Maybe Apple should just buy Nintendo, since they’re already making such similar products…"

If Nintendo made iOS games...the quality would diminish greatly. "Zelda iOS" I prefer to actually have buttons to play a game like Zelda. "Super Mario iPad Brawl" Seriously? ...seriously. This is a bad idea if I've ever heard it. You couldn't play a game as complicated (it's technically complicated with all the buttons and whatnot) on a iPad. -_-

You're forgetting one important point that destroys all of their gaming credibility: They got Smash Bros. and Super Mario mixed up. I expect workoholic parents to make that mistake, not people writing articles... ON GAMING.

FYI, I didn't read the article and wont comment on it. For obvious reasons.

#24276 E3 2012... im a little worries.

You guys are blinded. There is a huge amount of room for improvement in graphics. Just because it's in 1080p doesn't mean it can't go further. Battlefield 3 is using Ps360 limits and many prerendered cutscenes like in the Bioshock 2 ending, you can almost see each individual hair. Resolution only makes pictures clearer but you notice polygons in graphics. If a consoles replaces polygons with atoms then you can make individual pores on a persons face.

What if I don't have a computer?

Use a DVD player? (Duh!)
If you don't have a DVD player, get a Netflix subscription and watch movies on your 3DS ;)

Then how are you on here?

Exactly, How are you here ?

And if you want to watch DVD´s, you can also buy a portable DVD player : http://www.ebay.com/...LAYER-W-REMOTE-/290602375930?pt=DVD_Players_Recorders&hash=item43a9405afa

Nintendo DO make games consoles, but all im saying is in the future people will want less clutter and gadgets will have to do more than one job. Nintendo will have to address that and come up with a new way to get into peoples homes that takes up less space, how long do u think it will be before dvds n blu rays will be gone and we download all our entertainment? Not long, and video games will go the same way. Do u not agree?

No, I don't agree. I prefer actually having physical copies of my games, instead of some downloaded junk that the company can take from my system at any given time.

Posted by Wertville on 22 August 2011 - 05:12 AM

you guys still arent getting it. i was using the dvd playback as just an example. im talking everything. using products that were made 4-5 years prior to the launch of your console?? all im saying is if nintendo made billions on Wii(which they did) can we get a little bit better tech inside our console?? i understand they have to be smart because they are just a gaming company but in todays western world you have to stack your product.

We know. That's why we're asking for a Sandwich Maker, a Soda Fountain, a Personal Massuse, an Auto-Pilot, a Coffee Machine, a Foot Washer, and a Toaster.

...On a more serious note, I don't think anyone really knows what 'Modern Tech' you're talking about. I can understand wanting, say, 3G on a handheld. That fits with the handheld, after all. But what can you stick on the console to add useful value?
DVD player is pointless, as it's old tech. BluRay is still relatively new and expensive. HD-DVD is dead. Holographic still isn't for another several years. Outside of disk storage you have... A printer and a scanner? Nope, those would be peripherals. Camera? On the Tablet. Monitor? Kinda irrelevates the Tablet.

So... What exactly do you want from it? It already has things like Video Chat and Netflix, as well as an above decent online. It includes External Hard Drive support, Has BluRay competitive size disks and supports 3D. The Graphic card is going to stay relevant for quit a few years, along with the processor and everything else inside. What else do you need from a gaming console?

EDIT: Copy and Paste fail >.<

#23075 Super Mario Wii U

Posted by Feld0 on 21 August 2011 - 01:45 AM

Consider for a moment that every main-series Mario platformer we've ever seen has been made to take advantage of its system's strengths. Super Mario 64 re-imagined Mario's world in full 3D on Nintendo's first console that could handle that. Super Mario Sunshine took advantage of the GameCube's raw power to deliver massive, sprawling, beautiful worlds and lots of puzzles built around its water physics. The two Galaxy games could not have happened without the Wii Remote's pointer.

Following that pattern, it's only logical to assume that Super Mario U will be tailored to deliver an experience conceptualized for the Wii U, and nothing but. The main things the Wii U has going for it are its HD graphics (and horsepower beyond any console on the market right now) and the touchscreen controller (possibly online, too, but I'm not gonna count on that yet for hopefully obvious reasons). I'm having a hard time imagining how the touchscreen could really further the Mario experience, but there is so much potential in the number-crunching side of the system, I'm surprised there isn't more speculation about it.

Think about this for a moment: the Wii U, with its 25 GB discs and processing power, has the ability to bring us a fully realized Mushroom Kingdom. It would be a natural evolution of the non-linear gameplay of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine; except that the entire world could now be realized as one continuous entity - no level select screens, no loading, nothing. Imagine being dropped in front of Peach's castle, with Mario's entire world waiting to be explored. You could travel to different towns, meet NPC's, perform errands for them, and also do whatever the game uses to track your progress (not sure if collecting Power Stars would still work).

Yes, it would be mashing Mario together with gameplay elements of Zelda and Metroid, but I can't see how that's a bad thing. It would certainly be a "riskier" Mario game for Nintendo to produce, but really no more so than Zelda: Skyward Sword. The idea of an open-world Mushroom Kingdom would be taking full advantage of at least one of the Wii U's defining traits - something that the Mario series is well known for. Now, Nintendo and the industry as a whole have been moving towards more linear, guided experiences so I don't know how good the chances of an open-world Mario game ever coming to fruition really are. But come on, it would be like GTA with Yoshis, power-ups, and Nintendo's amazing art teams. Who wouldn't want that?

#21777 Console made for both first party and third party developers!

Posted by Hank Hill on 15 August 2011 - 07:54 AM

All i can say is time will see and the thing about casual games is they SUCK!! who cares if mario is in it or not. And u r in denial if u think the wiimote is good for fps"s. After thinking about the wiimote sucked. The first time i played wii sports i loved it but after that it just sucked

Then if Nintendo's casual games suck (as you're saying now), then how come Sony/Microsofts are awesome? (As you said in your last post) And if you ask anybody on this forum in the chat, and they'll tell you the exact same thing that I said, and that is the Wiimote is good for FPS. Metroid Prime Trilogy is a stellar example of that, as is the CoDs they have for the Wii.

#22851 Wii U Graphical Demo in case you missed it.

Posted by Waller on 19 August 2011 - 11:16 AM

Apparently, there was a second graphical demo that made the bird one look "meh". I believe it involves a flyover of Tokyo that goes between a view of the entire city to a hyper-detailed street-level view. The whole thing was supposed to look photorealistic, too.

Sounds like the sort of thing you would want to shove in the face of an annoying PS3 fanboy.

Look guys, we all know we need it to be able to produce Yoshi eggs so we can use Yoshis in real life :D

Maybe we can finally rid the world of trolls!

#22601 Best Cleverbot conversation anyone can ever get

Apparently, Cleverbot can sing the My Little Pony theme with you. When I tried it it went like this:

User: My little pony,

Cleverbot: My little turtle.

User: What?

#13319 E3 2012... im a little worries.

Posted by Desert Punk on 09 July 2011 - 09:54 AM

It makes perfect sense for Microsoft to announce their next console at E3 2012. Sony did it to Sega with the announcement of the PS2 and it prevented the Dreamcast getting a strong foothold in the market because many people waited for the PS2.

Neither Sony or Microsoft want Nintendo to succeed and so both will plan some sort of spoiler tactics. I think both of them were caught by surprise by the Wii's success. It was very underpowered and I know Microsoft expected it to fail. This time around both Sony and Microsoft will be gunning for the Wii U in every way possible. This is great for consumers like us as it keeps prices very competitive.

If the Wii U is underpowered I don't think Sony or Microsoft will let them get away with it this time around.

Like many though I bought the Wii as I love Nintendo games. I knew it was crap as a console and based on the gamecube being only marginally faster with a bit more memory but wanted to play classic and brilliant Nintendo games on it. To be honest I would have prefered if Nintendo were out of the hardware business like Sega and we could play Nintendo games on more powerful Microsoft/Sony hardware but thats the way it is. If you want to play Nintendo games  you buy Nintendo hardware and although the hardware is crap, the games are brilliant.
