#56177 What should Nintendo's online be called

Posted by Deadly Virus on 21 January 2012 - 04:44 PM

Community groups would be pretty sweet... Wii u forums group???

Also, this feature was planned for the 3DS but apparently didn't make it in in time. So it became MK7's community feature. I'm still hoping that it will make it into Wii U/3DS as a whole.

Not like it matters too much. And who knows, Nintendo might do it better than PSN. With them co-operating with EA and possibly Valve it leads me to believe that a major inspiration for "Nintendo Network" is Steam/Origin. That could possibly mean we'd get instantly changable user names, custom avatars and community groups which XBL and PSN don't have at the moment.

#55110 Should the Wii U Games include DLC?

A great game to use DLC on would be the upcoming SSB games. I'm sure this possibility has already been discussed though.

#51418 Wii U CES 2012 - Will we see more of the unshown?

Posted by Dant on 04 January 2012 - 07:04 PM

As I see it, Nintendo needs to use CES to the best they can to keep hype and interest alive until E3 later this year.

Hope they've been saving announcments and tech demos...

I'm thinking of using your Club Nintendo account as a "gamertag" and that way you can get "coins" with some sort of "achievements".

#47219 Wii U Price Discussion

Guys, that's not how hardware pricing works.

As I said earlier, designing chips is expensive, make them isn't. The chips in the Wii U will modified AMD/IBM chips, not new chips that were $500m each to R&D. Take the 5750 GFX card, it has a 170mm2 chip inside it. A TSMC wafer costs between $5000-6000. AMD get 370 chips off that wafer with maybe 85% yields, so 315 working chips. That puts the price of a chip at a maximum of $19- but it's unlikely that Nintendo will go for the 5750 chip and the cost of 40nm wafer's will probably drop sharply over the next few months as all AMD/NV chips move to 28nm. There are other factors to be included but the final cost will be much closer to the $30 I predicted than $150 for the GPU.

The reason the PS3 was so expensive at launch was because it was using far larger chips that had much worse yields+ they also spent hundreds of millions in R&D for the Cell CPU.

I priced out some comparable computer parts that the wii u is rumored to have and with retail markup included it came in at around $372. That's without the controller which will probably be around $100 so it's save to say $450-500 is a good bet of a launch price. I have pics to show along with specs

Shouldn't their be a possibility of Nintendo being able to get these parts at a lower price since they are a company. I always tended to believe company's could get parts at a lower price then available on market or is it just me?

#37470 wii u hardware already a flop

*Facepalm* Little fun fact for ya. MOST OF THE X-BOX 360'S LAUNCH TITLES WERE ADVANCE HD VERSIONS OF X-BOX/GAMECUBE/PS2 GAMES! Is the X-Box 360 only as powerful as the X-Box? Heck no! Most of the developers have said that the Wii U versions of games will be deluxe versions. Ya know, deluxe as in, "If you want the best version, get this or the PC version." Just because many of the currently announced games are also on the 360/PS3, doesn't mean that that it isn't powerful enough to be considered a next gen system.

#11190 Should Nintendo Partner with Capcom once more?

They need to make a Nintendo Vs. Capcom.

EB Games doesn't have the faintest clue what the Wii U is going to cost.
