Hello my Wii U bronies! I see you only have 26 pages. We need to rectify that.

#28505 Is David still a mod?

Posted by David on 11 September 2011 - 05:10 PM

I just thought I'd clarify something further in that I will be more active in the future, but like it's already been said, the best thing I can do for this community is promote it. That's what I do best and while I haven't done a whole heap of that so far, there are some big plans I have for the next year as the Wii U comes closer to launch. :)

But I was considering assigning ops to go out and build landmarks out in the world for the other players to discover.

Landmarks you say 'ey?

This is gonna be one of precious few times that our interests in ponies and Nintendo will collide head-on.

SUPER SMASH PONIES!

Nintendo and Ponies collide more often than you think:

#26644 3DS Second Circle pad complaints? Read this first!

Posted by Wertville on 07 September 2011 - 12:02 PM

http://www.gamefaqs....14-3ds/60254265

Rage has exploded across the internet due to people assuming that the addon confirms a remake (A certain 3DS buzz editor isn't helping >.>), so I'm going to post this here to prevent people from acting rash...

If you have ANY complaints about the 3DS circle pad addon, read the linked Gamefaqs topic above. For lazy people, I'll quote the tl;dr here:

So Zanimar, I don't want to read, just give me the gist of all this.

In closing, there is nothing to fear and this addon does not spell doom for the 3DS but instead shows that Nintendo is putting forth more effort in a single model instead of just doing redesigns. The addon is simply nothing more than an option of control for those who want more traditional controls, much like how things were done with the Wii. Very few, if any games will require it and even few will be games worth getting.

The following is a list of conclusions that I have stated in this topic about what I've gathered from all the info mentioned of the addon and Nintendo's own history in dealing with their systems and addons.

- The addon is purely optional and offers an alternative control method for those who want more traditional controls instead of the touch screeen.

- The addon will be required for very few games and even fewer will be games worth getting.

- There will not be a redesign that will incorporate the second pad as it there is far more negative than positive to such a path.

- There is now an even less chance of any sort of redesign as Nintendo shows the 3DS is a modular system and so any idea that would be used for a redesign (except for a 3DS XL) could be incorporated as an optional addon and thus making a single, customizable 3DS as opposed to several models of 3DS and having the consumer "settle" for the one with the most features that appeal to him.

If you want to hear the detailed reasons, please read the thread. I can only see this as a good sign for the 3DS :D

#26213 Miitropolis

Posted by dagwood dang on 05 September 2011 - 07:14 PM

So @Ponkotsu,

I read it all. I LOVE it all, but now if Nintendo does anything less than this, I'm afraid I'm going to be disappointed! Hahaha. But all joking aside, I'm now visualizing a bustling Mii city with all kinds of fun activities. I didn't know about the Wii no Ma channel. Heck, I didn't know about a lot of the things you brought up, but there does seem to be plenty of evidence toward something big on the way of some kind of online revolution for Ninty. That patent you mentioned further strengthens the evidence. I also liked the idea of cars or some sort of personal transportation around the city. Of course there should be instant teleporting. Public transportation would be cool too.

So I started branching thoughts off of your ideas from your post...
Imagining a TV/Wii set up in your Mii's virtual living room of the house/apartment. Naturally, you should be able to get all of your Miitropolis info, news, and update data from it, but what about the idea of your Mii also having his/her own PERSONAL SMART DEVICE?
It could look like a virtual 3DS, or Wii U controler, that your Mii pulls from his/her pocket while he/she is out and about. The device would essentially act like a smart phone of sorts and include features like:

-A Contacts List-
A way to look up your friends and find out if they're available to play or not. Sending gaming invites whenever you could.
-Txt/audio (maybe even video) messages-
Another way to contact and get in touch with friends.
-Some sort of map of the city-
A quick way to navigate the town with points of interest and the locations of your friends marked, so you can easily find and travel (or instant-travel) to them.
-Some sort of scrolling marquee with news and updates about the city-
News from the real world and from some of the companies you may have in your city (like Nintendo news), and Miitropolis news like upcoming city events like virtual concerts, or carnivals.

Which brings me to:

-Virtual concerts and shows-
It would be cool to have some sort of city square where you could watch streaming concerts or other videos. Similar to your Netflix theater idea (which is an awesome idea), but this could be where they show videos of live concerts and performances. All of the 'Nintendo Video', and 'Nintendo Channel' videos could be at home on your Mii's Wii if you wanted to watch them. Just an Idea.

-Town carnival/theme park-
You touched on a similar idea in your post. A place where Miis have activities like tag, sledding, etc. Elaborating on that, A little theme park with many carnie activities like the milk bottle/ball game (I don't know what its officially called), darts, hammer and bell, etc. This would be a great way to utilize Wii motes and keep them relevant in Miitropolis, which I'm sure Nintendo would want to do. Winning prizes like Nintendo mascot masks to wear on Holidays, stuffed animals and trinkets to bring home, and play coins to use elsewhere in the city. More importantly, an ARCADE TENT where you can play demos of real games from the virtual console as well as Wii (U) ware games. Of course, those options should also be made quickly available on your Mii's Wii at your (virtual) home.

Lastly, as interesting as Miitropolis can be, eventually, it would be nice to get out of the city. At first I thought, 'why not several different themed Miitropolises where you can choose between which one you wanted to live in? Like a New York-like city, more of a 'beachy' Miami-like city, or somewhat of an Asian countryside themed city!!!' but then I thought, 'they could just as easily make different districts within one city with all of those different themes and more!' which would make it all feel more centralized. but... What about an airport on the edge of town where you can fly to Wuhu Island!!! Having features there that you can't find in Miitropolis!!! My friend, you've sparked my brain a great deal. I only wish we could find a way to SLAM your post ideas down in front the Nintendo branch that's overseeing the new online project, cause I think you're on to something.

I don't mind My Little Pony. I watched the whole series and enjoyed it.

#26229 Wii U Hard drive

...but that could pose a problem. I remember reading in an article somewhere that, because the systems don't have a uniform amount of HD space, 360 and PS3 developers have to be more mindful of what they make for DLC and stuff.

On the other hand, this could be considered a good thing... Devs can't just expect to be able to release the other half of the game over DLC anymore.

OH COME ON, FELD0! You were COOL until you changed your NAME! Now you've fallen into the STUPID territory... T.T
And she USED to be, before it was cool!

I think you're overreacting a bit... everyone is allowed to have their interests and fandoms. I know it seems like ponies have infested the board, but it's only really a small fad that a handful of members have gotten into. I understand your shock at such an unlikely fandom becoming so popular on a gaming board, but you have to respect that fandom all the same. I guarantee that this fandom will slowly die down and return this place to a gaming forum once games start coming out, but you have to be patient.

Honestly, I think it's starting to die down already, with a certain member being taken with Devil Survivor overclocked :P
Just wait until a mario game comes out. Or the September conference... I heard from a certain /v/ board that Yoshi might be important ;)

...I can't respect it here, since it's completely irrelevant to the Wii-U.

And on your second...it's NOT dying down... it seems to be doing the opposite... >.<

Look at my avatar. Does this have ANYTHING to do with Nintendo, let alone the Wii U? Heck, have any of my avatars had anything to do with Nintendo? Are any of my fandoms related to Nintendo? Heck, I'm a huge fan of Cardcaptors, which could very well be considered the mid-1990s Japanese equivalent to MLP... Do you respect me?

So far I have rarely seen any MLP in the gaming boards, the only place where MLP shouldn't tread. MLP has spread into the other boards, yes, but that's okay. Because those boards were MADE for non-gaming stuff. So long as the Museum doesn't get flooded with MLP fanart and the chat board remains with only one topic about MLP, then their fandom should be left alone. Simple as that.

And as for the dying down... Well, sure, Feld0 changed his name (I'm assuming temporarily), but so did Lord N. One fan becomes a stronger fan, probably to push the MLP board, while another switches his advertised fandom to something completely different. And like I said, chances are other people will do the same as Atsubro once games start coming out and they want to show what they're currently playing. The only reason MLP became popular here in the first place is because both the Wii and 3DS are having dry spouts, and because a great admin advertised it. When great games like Kid Icarus comes out people will start to go back to gaming fandoms. It happens to me every single Umineko translation...
