#25321 Uh...it would appear the Ambassador Program NES games are now available for d...

Posted by Feld0 on 01 September 2011 - 11:46 AM

I can't find out how to download the games. If I go onto my Account Activity, I can see all of the NES ambassador games, but I can't find any option to download them. Help please?

Try "Your Downloads" instead of "Account Activity". ;)

Mine is not all that cluttered. I need to find a new background though.

My personal suggestion? Can't go wrong with a good pony background. ;)

This is apparently "emo Dash". This was captured from an animation reel by Aidan Mcateer. It's footage from season 2. Wow I was about to post the video, but it appears that it has been deleted. It was up a few minutes ago.

Footage from season 2 leaked online? :o

Next time you (or anyone else) sees any, use KeepHD to download a copy of it, and I'll re-host it for us in a place beyond Youtube's control.

EDIT: Lol, that sounds almost a little desperate. :P But I do mean it.

Kurt, did you see anything particularly special in that vid?

To say video games are not art is to say that Radiant Historia is not art.

#24725 Wii U Forum Awards?

Posted by Feld0 on 29 August 2011 - 12:01 AM

That would be neat, but I don't think Feld0 would be too kind of categorizing his fellow members.

Pretty much this. I shy away from giving out awards because while loads of fun, they can create unnecessary feelings of jealousy between members, among other problems.

Even if people promise not to take offense to not getting an award, that doesn't stop them from building up feelings of resent inside - possibly even subconsciously. While they may never say anything about it - or even be aware of it - this inner resent for not getting an award may affect their perception of the community for the worse. Perhaps I'm just being paranoid, but I think none of us can really predict what the after effects of an awards ceremony could potentially be.

OR THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE!!!!

Since yesterday, I've started to be a full grown pbrony. Do you know which episodes support the plot or an arc? I KINDA don't like episodes that makes really nothing happen.

Unfortunately, the majority of the first season is done in a "slice of life" style, not unlike Friends. I remember the first two episodes, 6, 12, 18, 23, and 24 being the ones that really did something with effects that reached into later episodes.

1+2 - the mane six are revealed to represent the Elements of Harmony, and Luna is returned from her banishment
6 - Twilight Sparkle's magical abilities are truly focused on for the first time, and she feels far more comfortable with them after this episode
12 - Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle meet, and form the Cutie Mark Crusaders; their mission to get their cutie marks continues through the rest of the season
18 - an episode focusing on the personal development of the Cutie Mark Crusaders
23 - the mane six reveal how they got their cutie marks, and realize that Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom was indirectly responsible for bringing them together many years later
24 - Twilight Sparkle adopts an owl as her pet - I'm sure we'll see more of him in season 2
26 - the season finale; it is an episode that focuses on each of the ponies' aspirations

I might've missed a couple - someone, feel free to fill in any gaps. But yes, generally, nothing very far-reaching tends to happen. Personally, I'm hoping to see a lot more plot continuity in season 2 - some big problem that takes the entire season to solve would be awesome.

#24171 Welcoming Committee - Now taking applications for new Guides!

Posted by Feld0 on 25 August 2011 - 10:41 PM

It makes me very happy to see the revival of interest in the Guide position. I'm almost starting to wonder if people are applying for it as a ploy to change their user titles, remove ads, and get 500 PM inboxes. :P

Being a guide could be fun, I'll apply. :)

First, let me butter you up. ;) This is a fantastic idea and will really help set a good atmosphere of the forum.

Honestly, I haven't been introducing users to the forums. (I've really only been visiting to chat to some users). But I would really like to see this forum flourish and grow. As a Guide I would promise to greet and welcome most, if not all users who are new to the forums.

I wield the element of kindness.

Here is a picture of Twilight:

If your intent was to "butter me up" (love how you put that), you've most certainly succeeded, Kurt. It makes me very happy to see the active admin of 3DS Forums wanting to contribute to the Wii U Forums community as a Guide - you sure you'll have time for it?

Regardless, it looks like you've thought it through, and it's great to have you on the welcoming crew. Enjoy the bigger PM box and all the other perks of Guidesmanship, but be sure to stick to your promise. :)

The element of kindness is the one you'll want to wield when welcoming new members, though a picture of Fluttershy would be more appropriate than Twilight Sparkle. Then again, you've already got two Fluttershys attached to every single post you make, anyway. :P

Oh yeah, by the way Kurtiss, you're not planning to copy my Guides idea on 3DS Forums, are you? :P

#24060 3DS eshop under maintance?

Posted by Feld0 on 25 August 2011 - 01:39 PM

Computer systems sometimes need to have work done on them that requires them to be taken offline. They may be rolling out a major upgrade to their software or hardware, and it may be a bad idea to keep the eShop running during that for a number of reasons, depending on what exactly they're doing.

When I take this forum or one of my other sites down for maintenance, you don't all automatically jump to the conclusion that I've been hacked, do you?

Also, on the note of credit card information, it's safe even if Nintendo do get hacked. This is because Nintendo never, ever stores your credit card info for this very reason (unlike Sony, who offer to store it for the sake of "quick purchases"). Am I the only guy who actually read through the entire Terms of Service and all the legal gobbledegook of the 3DS and the eShop? You guys should be aware of what exactly they do with your information before making any assumptions.

#23575 Rumor: 3DS to receive a redesign and a new name starting in 2012.

Sigh... I really hope the next Nintendo handheld has a more unique form factor - and removes that damn touch screen.

You know that the 3DS was originally going to have two touchscreens, right?

+1 for a full-length movie based on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It would be nothing short of wonderful - that is, as long as Lauren Faust is still part of it. There has actually been an MLP movie before, and to my knowledge, it sucked. Horribly.

#23272 What's the point of next gen consoles?

Posted by Feld0 on 22 August 2011 - 03:38 AM

I don't think we need another company like Apple in the console making business, unless Apple used the same level of quality they apply in making there computer hardware, employed dedicated skilled experts in making consoles and games and had good quality first party and exclusive third party games. The Apple console would have to be very innovative, another plain old PS3 or Xbox console wouldn't be enough because we have seen it all before. I don't think Apple is going to enter the console business because they would have pull a a whole lot off, (even though I am pretty sure a hell of a lot of Apple Fan-boys would buy anything Apple excretes) Apple is trying to take on the gaming market from a different angle, by making cheap, affordable games available on there popular iPhone and iPad for casual gamers to enjoy. l don't think "hardcore" or more dedicated gamers are going to stop buying consoles because of this anytime soon. ^_^

Apple really doesn't have as much experience with games as many people are giving them credit for. They do not develop any first-party games, and it seems that everyone has forgotten that the iPod Touch and iPhone did not even ship with an app store of any kind in their first year on the market. iOS (iPhone OS at the time) became a gaming platform entirely by accident - Apple didn't do much other than provide software development kits for apps that some companies decided to make a few games with. Next thing you know, 99-cent experiences became one of the leading reasons for people to get an iOS device - but the platform's third-party developers are responsible for that, not Apple themselves.

For Apple to design a good, competitive console, they would need to focus an immense amount of resources on that. Not to mention that they'd be competing with three companies that have all been in the console race for at least a decade, and are extremely well established in it. Add to that that Apple do not have any experience developing first-party games (which, let's face it, they'll need at least some of) and it just doesn't seem like the greatest business idea for them. The closest I can possibly see them coming to a game console is if they made the app store available on the Apple TV, and let you use iOS devices as controllers for it. But even that won't come close to the depth of the experiences that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo can offer.

#23231 Spam Subscribers on my YouTube Channel?

Posted by Feld0 on 21 August 2011 - 06:50 PM

Most people on Youtube don't produce any original content, and are only there as viewers, so it's possible that they're people who watch and favourite lots of vids but never made any of their own. However, it's also possible that they may be people looking for a subscription in return.

They cannot force you to subscribe to them no matter what, so feel free to simply ignore them. If they begin sending you spam by private messages or start leaving weird comments on your profile, block them from Youtube's UCP.

#23092 Super Mario Wii U

Posted by Feld0 on 21 August 2011 - 03:47 AM

An open world Mushroom Kingdom in HD would be great. Especially if the Wii U could manage it without any loading screens when you enter a new area. Your idea actually sounds a little bit like an Animal Crossing game, in the sense that you could meet NPCs and run errands for them. I also feel that the gameplay would be very different from any previous Mario game, so I'm not sure if Nintendo would make a game like that. As you said, some games are becoming more linear. Super Mario 3D Land is one example of that. If they did make a game like this, I'm sure it would be great though.

I'm thinking something more along the lines of a marriage between GTA and Super Mario 64. Super Mario 64 2, basically. It would indeed be quite a drastic step for Mario, but as long as the focus is kept more on the exploration and platforming than the sidequesting, I think the open-world aspects of such a game would work wonderfully.

Nintendo designing their games for their consoles goes for Super Mario 3D Land, too, by the way. They've said that they've tried to re-adapt the Mario formula for a true pick-up-and-play portable experience where you're able to enjoy five minutes of Mario whenever you like. Making a game in the same style on what very well may be the best console yet for open-world games would be a bit of a waste.
