#252350 Does IGN hate Nintendo?

Posted by Alex Wolfers on 20 October 2013 - 02:47 PM

Today IGN gave Sonic Lost World a low score of like a 5 or something. Considering how they give games like Halo, COD, and Battlefield insanely high reviews and games like Zombi U a low score, and games like the Wii U version of Rayman a lower score then other ports I have grown to suspect IGN's reviews are either biased or bought out, or the fact they simply hate most Nintendo games. Your thoughts?

#252168 Why do you think 3d world only runs in 720p upscaled to 1080p?

Posted by Arkhandar on 19 October 2013 - 04:01 PM

After watching that footage again, either the game has a very good anti aliasing or it really is 1080p. I'm betting on the latter.

It's ironic that the Wii U has the most 1080p60 games than the other next gen systems (PS4 and Xbox One), despite being the "weaker" system.

the wii u hardware should easily be able to run this game as it isn't the most graphically intensive thing, or at least it doesn't look like it (artstyle is very pretty though)

so do you think it's a lack of optimization or do you think ninty is struggling with hd development still?

Or do you think the game is too graphically intensive for wii u to run in native 1080p right now?

#250875 The Nintendo Uboat, universal appeal to developers everywhere!

Posted by meitantei_conan on 10 October 2013 - 07:35 PM

Will people be willing to pay $300, $400, $500 for new gaming hardware? That's the question that keeps going over in my mind. I work in retail and it amazes me, people 9 times out of ten, choose the low cost option even when the low cost option is garbage. for example we have bikes that sell for $99, these bikes are trash. then we have the better models starting at $169. you can see the difference in build and quality, yet people always go for the cheaper option. Its mind boggling. Im not trying to imply wiiu is trash or that bike analogy can be directly applied to Nintendo's situation, but i think  the major factor in the majority of peoples purchases come down to price. Another question is  will people buy the software? that's the big issue with third parties. Will little timmy want to play watch dogs and cod on his new wiiu? or rather play mario 3d world?

I am gonna be optimistic! I am gonna have FUN with my wiiu and my new wiiu games this holiday season! and I await new announcements from nintendo about future titles!

I also predict wiiu will sell over 500 trillion units and nintendo will become supreme over lord of the entire universe!1!1!!one!

#250780 Dual graphics engine

Posted by krizzx on 10 October 2013 - 09:14 AM

This is something I've always held back, but the recent statement about multi-threaded shadows has really got me wondering.

For those unfamiliar with them http://www.amd.com/u...graphics.aspx#3

DualGraphicsEngines1.jpg

Might the Wii U GPU have some components of a dual-graphics engine? It was made during the time where AMD was focusing on them and and some of the stats I've been seeing in games seem unexplainable otherwise.

Its seems that just like ATI's old tessellators, it didn't see much usage do to priority going to Nvidia architecture and designs that were more global. Seems it requires specific programming to properly use.

A console on the other hand is the perfect place for hardware of that nature do to the fact that all consoles of the same name will have the exact same specs.

#250528 The Wii U Game Pad, The Logical Choice ...

Posted by RETROBLAST on 08 October 2013 - 06:17 PM

I really do not know about the rest of you, but I am very happy with the Wii U Game Pad.

One of the first things I felt when first had it in my hands was "a return to tradition, but done right"

The Pad just feels great in my hands ... it has all the buttons in all the right places ... it feels traditional to me, unlike how I felt when I first picked up a Wiimote and Nunchuck.  It felt like a return to common sense to me ... a staple ... but with a twist ... it has added functions as well ...

So when people talk about how far out an idea it was, that just seems crazy to me.  It functions as a standard controller to me ... at its very basic level, it is a traditional style controller ... it has two analog sticks positioned in the best position in my opinion .... hated the idea of the placement of the 360 sticks ... it has an excellent, not wishy washy D Pad ... 4 action buttons, 4 shoulder buttons, and start, select, and home buttons.

This configuration (with the exception of the lack of analog shoulder buttons - like the GC) can be used to play any game that came out since the days of the NES ... in its simplicity, it is versatile.  When you picked up a Wii, you got a Wiimote but if you wanted to play a lot of virtual console games, you needed a classic controller.  Now, the Wii U Game Pad is a classic controller ... you just have to wait until they release the old virtual console games for the Wii U ... but in essence, it serves that purpose.

But the pad adds enough new twists to make it modern as well ...... gyroscope, speakers, headphone jack, microphone,  Near Contact Reader, a camera, and of course, the THE TOUCH SCREEN and its Streaming Ability, Asymmetrical Gameplay, Off TV Gameplay for Wii & Wii U Games.

Because there are 100 Million Wii Systems already in homes, it makes sense not to pack a Wiimote in with the system .... people already have one!

It is backwards compatible right now ... the PS4 and XBOX 1 are not at this point.

To me, it seems like the most logical approach Nintendo could have made ... It is innovative, yet more firmly rooted in tradition than the Wii was in my opinion.

#249848 Chris Brown: I lost my virginity when I was 8 years old

So, at eight, being able to do it, it kind of preps you for the long run.

It preps you for being an idiot for the rest of your life.

#249804 Chris Brown: I lost my virginity when I was 8 years old

Posted by Zinix on 05 October 2013 - 12:31 PM

Chris Brown had his first sexual experience long before he was even a teenager, he revealed.

The R&B star said that he lost his virginity when he was just 8 years old to a girl in his hometown of Tappahannock, Virginia.

"It's different in the country," he joked in an interview with the Guardian. "By that point, we were already kind of like hot to trot, you know what I'm saying? Like, girls, we weren't afraid to talk to them; I wasn't afraid."

"So, at eight, being able to do it, it kind of preps you for the long run, so you can be a beast at it," he continued. "You can be the best at it."

"You know how Prince has a lot of girls back in the day? Prince was, like, the guy," Brown said. "I'm just that, today. But most women won't have any complaints if they've been with me. They can't really complain. It's all good."

The 24-year-old singer also spoke about "the Rihanna incident," referring to his violent attack on his then girlfriend in 2009, describing it as "probably the biggest wake-up call for me."

"I had to stop acting like a teenager, a crazy, wild young guy," Brown said. "I learned from it, and it was almost like…I wouldn't say it happened for a reason, but it was something to trigger my mind to be more of a mature adult. To handle myself in situations, don' throw tantrums, don't be a baby about it."

No, I'm not dissapointed, but i wanted more chat features....i figured it was a little obvious that it is hard to directly talk to people when trying to set up games...

Same, I also really wanted in game notifications, hopefully it will only be a matter of time.
