#102533 RUMOUR: Nintendo looking to buy back Rare + franchises, Retro making Banjo Wii U

Posted by Lain on 27 August 2012 - 01:40 PM

For the many valuable IPs that would practically print money that Rare's currently sitting on.

Come on, use your imagination. Don't give me the "well, they're not relevant anymore" spiel either. Such was the case with Rayman, and now that franchise is very relevant with the creation of Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.

What valuable IPs? Banjo Kazooie and Viva Pinata? Nintendo has plenty of different IPs already. If Nintendo wants to revive an IP, they should revive the ones they aren't using - Not go through the efforts of buying a studio just so they can get their ancient IPs.

As for Rayman, Rayman is owned by Ubisoft, who has been far more active than Rare ever has this generation. It isn't a matter of whether or not the character is relevant otherwise we wouldn't have threads like this. It's all about Rare and if they're even capable of making games like they did with the Nintendo 64. Face it, Nintendo has no reason to buy Rare at this point in time - It'd be a bad investment.

Did we really need four different threads on the same things?

At this point, you guys probably shouldn't expect anything and are better off being surprised if it does happen.

#101135 Bloc Party - Four

Posted by Lain on 21 August 2012 - 08:20 PM

Track List:
  • So He Begins to Lie
  • 3x3
  • Octopus
  • Real Talk
  • Kettling
  • Day Four
  • Coliseum
  • V.A.L.I.S.
  • Team A
  • Truth
  • The Healing
  • We Are Not Good People
  • Mean (Bonus Track)
  • Leaf Skeleton (Bonus Track)
So I just picked up this album, and I'm currently listening to "Octopus." Bloc Party was one of the bands that brought me into the music scene, so I have a special place for them in my heart. Hearing about them coming together to make a fourth album after a long time of some inactivity is really cool.

Anyway, just from what I've currently listened to, this album seems to be returning to their earlier style heard in Silent Alarm and A Weekend in the City which I kinda prefer. It's still different from their debut style, but it's not bad.

Here's a sample:

Anyone else Bloc Party fans or have bought the album?

#69646 Rumor: Nintendo's Answer To Gran Turismo And Forza In Development

F-Zero is no Gran Turismo/Forza.

There is a difference between realistic racing simulator and futuristic arcade racer

#68350 Darksiders 2 interview comment about the Wii U hardware

It's a forum - I can do both so long as it's on topic.

Anyway, you completely missed the point of my post if that's your response.

#67599 The Real You

Posted by Lain on 23 March 2012 - 04:56 PM

Just a general question: Do you post the same way you'd speak normally with another person?

I'll provide an example. I know some people who communicate very differently online than they do in person. On forums, these people attempt to sound more intelligent by using more difficult words and very carefully constructing their posts before posting. In person, however, these same people speak like the average layman, with a more limited vocabulary and much less 'commitment' towards the quality of their statements.

I suppose there is always a motive to these sorts of things. I never asked them why they change their speech online, but I imagine they do it for some amount of 'e-respect.' By sounding more intelligent, they better fit in with people they admire online, and are looked up to by other juniors who read their posts.

So what about you? I realize some people might want to lie, but please do be honest as reading a lie would a waste of time for those curious. Is your 'speech' online the same as your speech in person or is it synthetic (whether it be a product of wanting recognition or some other personal motive)?

I thought this would be a member meet-up thread. Those are always interesting!

Anyway, um Pokemon (in general).

#65058 Will F-Zero make a comeback ?

Posted by Lain on 05 March 2012 - 11:54 PM

All it really needs for the Wii U is a 30 player online mode with customisable vehicles (Speed, Weight etc) on top of what was in GX (<3 that game).

Maybe a track maker as well.

Exactly how I feel. The gameplay is already top-notch to me.

For me what will make it good is have the vehicles take damage and make the game have smarter more difficult AI. Don't know if damage will work on a F-Zero game, will it? Maybe a Cockpit camera.

I can tell you haven't played GX haha~

You can attack other vehicles and destroy them, and of course crashing into the gaudrails also leads to loss of energy. Story Mode AI is designed to beat you, while Master Class Grand Prix does very well too (with only slight chances of mishaps due to physics).

I think 30 is too much maybe 20. 30 is a very long wait.

With Communities, I think it'd be pretty cool. Just take a random bunch, and allow a minute or two for others to join in before the races start.

#64851 Will F-Zero make a comeback ?

Posted by Lain on 04 March 2012 - 11:37 PM

I don't see any reason why F-Zero requires a Story Mode. GX, my favorite F-Zero game, has one, but it certainly didn't need it. It merely added another frustrating set of challenges to the game.

What made F-Zero GX (and X) so good was that it managed to simulate speed like no other arcade racer. It didn't require any cheap gimmicks like items and rubberbanding, and it conrolled very well. Simply remaking GX would be good enough with me.

#60448 New Totally Original Sony Idea!

Posted by Lain on 08 February 2012 - 01:10 PM

And as we've already stated, Iwata has said the idea for the Wii U has been in progress since the Wii came out.

So...2006 or 2010?

I'm not disputing which company worked on what first - I'm saying that bashing another company because the other did something first is uncalled for, especially considering we don't know how long Sony has worked with the idea. It's a lot like bashing Sony's Move simply because it came out second when the fact of the matter is that they've been working with motion controls for some time too.

To argue that one company is bad because it copies from another is simply dumb. The fact of the matter is: Everyone does it. This is especially prevalent with technology, where one imitates and improves upon the original product. Putting down Sony so we can proclaim Nintendo as the "innovator" is unfair.

#60430 New Totally Original Sony Idea!

Posted by Lain on 08 February 2012 - 09:22 AM

Lets just hope this doesn't happen, because that would be a bunch of BS for Sony to come around and say "Hey look at this new innovative controller we made all by ourselves."

As I've already stated above, Sony has apparently been working on this for a few years already. It's a bit unfair to call Sony unoriginal just because Nintendo showcases it first.

#60182 New Totally Original Sony Idea!

Posted by Lain on 06 February 2012 - 10:08 PM

I dunno guys. This was patented back in 2010 guys. It says so right there in the article.

Nintendo and Sony were probably both working with the same idea - Only Nintendo made it public first.

#60103 What Virtual Console Games Do You Want?

And none of that "two month wait between each good release" sorta thing
