#69442 Is it MAYBE time to bring some fresh ideas to nintendo HQ?

Posted by Deadly Virus on 04 April 2012 - 10:36 AM

They don't need fresh ideas, they rather need to return to their old ones. What people don't realise is that Nintendo is fully capable of making amazing hardware and graphics. Anyone who owned a SNES, N64 or GameCube knows that Nintendo was once the king of good hardware on consoles. I think they kind of went astray when the Wii was released, and unfortunately I don't see many signs of that changing with the Wii U. I just hope that they have the sense to make a powerful enough machine to stand up to their competitors this time.

#69417 Wii U Has “More RAM” Than Current Consoles And “Really Great Processor”

Nope, this can't be true.  It doesn't come from some random, anonymous source.

#69225 Developers say Wii U means Increased Development Costs

Posted by Nollog on 03 April 2012 - 09:35 AM

The developer states that development costs for Wii U are much higher than Wii titles

Damn right it does, they have to take more care and more time drawing all those pretty graphics.

due to the increased resolution and polygon count.

Bull. This isn't a direct reason costs would go up.
Wii U games will cost as much to make as games currently do on the other two consoles.
The developers have had those tools for 6 years too, so they've already received a considerable return on their investment on the tools required for rendering at those higher resolutions and polygon counts.

#69174 Rumor: PlayStation 4 coming before Xbox 720

Posted by neverwinteru on 02 April 2012 - 10:05 PM

To be honest I hope it is worse than the Wii U to give me a reason to buy the Wii u over it, because I really want a new nintendo console but I dont think I would be able to go past a better console like the PS4 (that is, if it is better I'm saying)

cant have both?

Posted by Bill Cipher on 11 February 2012 - 08:39 AM

^LOLZ :D

Black and White
And i havent played 2011 Wii Games, I played the previous years ones. But i chose the game that i liked(from the trailers) and its Skylanders. I loved the unique(or is it?) idea. I also liked SS but S made me wanna jump at the game. Ill buy both at some time. Ill mostly buy SS When the Wii U releases so i wouldnt have to buy the Motion + controller and will play it on the screen

You will need Motion+ to play SS.

its funny cause your joking, but i for one would love to see nintendo buy out sega if they had the money to

Or at least get some of there franchises from them.

as far as which one of there studios needs expanding i would say retro and the legend of zelda team.

I would love to see legend of zelda more often it i would love to see what that team could do with a new ip.

They need to buy high voltage and have epic make an exclusive Wii U project a la gears of war trilogy style to help with hardcore gamers.

They need an exclusive hardcore series from a third party... That simple.

The thing that destroys this is that there is no baseball in Wii Sports Resort, and the only kind of tennis is table tennis.

#68865 The April Fools day rumor roundup.

Posted by Andy on 01 April 2012 - 05:39 AM

As you all (or at least most of you) should know, today is April Fools day. On April fools day, a lot of game sites like to post fake rumors/news as a joke. Here is a thread for rounding up any rumors (preferably ones related to the Wii U) that we can confirm are fake, or we can be very sure they are.

I'll start us off with one from Nintendo Enthusiast, stating Retro is working on both a New Zelda in collaboration with EAD 3, and a new Sci-fi centered ip.  http://www.nintendoe...lda-and-new-ip/

#68882 Wii U Releasing AUGUST 26!

Posted by nintendo3DS on 01 April 2012 - 08:17 AM

^ I like how we don't have to put up with bull like April Fools, Thanksgiving or Halloween.

Just a simple Easter, Christmas, New Years and Anzac Day, eh?

Thanksgiving and Halloween is awesome, thank you.

#68610 wii U, Gamefly, and the next gen.

Posted by neverwinteru on 30 March 2012 - 12:51 PM

Microsoft said that they have no intrest in making 1st party exclusives. The only ones that come to mind are Kinect games.

Playstation only has Little Big Planet, Uncharted which is done and God Of War which....well I dont really know what the deal is about it. Those are the main ones that come to mind when you say Sony. Xbox has Halo and Gears Of War which is done lol. So yah Playstation has 1 more main exclusive then xbox lol.

you forgot infamous, jak and daxter, modnation, killzone, sly cooper, ect trust me sony has almost if not more franchises than nintendo.

#68809 General Wii U E3 2012 Discussion

Posted by Nollog on 31 March 2012 - 06:01 PM

All I need is a new Mario (For Wii U) in 2013, any sooner and I'll be over-mario'd.
I'm already reaching breaking point with the 3DS one coming up.
Ideally, The Wii U will have New Super Mario Bros. Mii for launch, with the promise of downloadable content once per year (I'd pay), with the 3DS New Super Mario Bros. coming in March, which is the latest they can put it out given Iwata said it'd be coming in fiscal 2012.

Everything else is a bonus.

#68716 General Wii U E3 2012 Discussion

Posted by Keviin on 31 March 2012 - 06:45 AM

It wouldn't take much for them to statisfy me, but it would take a lot to statisfy the non-fans/mainstream audience and fans that weren't statisfied with the Wii.

Make the console and controller look attrective and anno 2012: people nowadays want something that looks fresh. While a lot of people like the Wii style, it has been around for almost 6 years. More colours than white would certainly help: a black or even a silver one would look more mature and expensive. I don't understand why there was never a silver Wii.

Make the graphics look actually next-gen (hey look, we have the 'something new' aspect again) so that there will be a clear difference between PS360 consoles, but they should try to keep the console as cheap as possible (I'm thinking $350). Nobody would buy a $600 Nintendo console.

Give it online capabilities that is at least on par with PS360. That means: no friend-codes, easy online-shopping, voicechat, easy accesible friendlist, connect with Twitter/Facebook/other social media (you know how popular they are nowadays).

Not too much focus on the touchscreen controller (people might see it as a gimmick instead of a useful feature) and think well about the name. People do not want a Wii that has a touchscreen, they want a NEW next-gen console.

Mix hardcore and casual aspects: let hardcore gamers know that the controller isn't a stupid gimmick, that it is a true next-gen console with lots of hardcore games coming out, but mainly advertise with the casual aspect. Families playing in living rooms and stuff. But not overexeggerate it ilke with Wii.

Show some creative ideas so that people will think "I need a Wii U!"

Strong launch line-up.

I think most of this is obvious, but you get the idea. I think the Wii U will do well, but not as well as Wii, simply thanks to the market nowadays. It will be a must-have if it contains above statements.

#68769 Expo's/Conferences we can hear news about the Wii U before E3

Posted by Meelow100 on 31 March 2012 - 01:22 PM

I just read that post myself, was pretty nice.
My bet's on nothing until e3 because I might be disappointed if I expect something.

The good thing is in 2006 at Nintendo Fiscal Year Earnings Release they announced the name Wii, and on April 26, 2011 that's when they announced Project Cafe, and in January of this year they announced the NFC, and account systems for Wii U, so at this Nintendo Fiscal Year Earnings Release there is a HUGE chance we will get Wii U news, hopefully name change announcment.
