#120690 nintendo 64 Games to be merged?

Posted by Tricky Sonic on 23 October 2012 - 09:35 AM

for example i would like to play diddy kong racing, supermario 64 etc... would they be purchasable from the app store.. havnt really come across much regarding this information on the internet.

They haven't disclosed all the Wii U eShop or VC titles yet. I'd assume old VC titles from the Wii would be available.

On a much funnier note...I misread that as Superman 64 and almost died from laughter.

#123440 US Wii U commercial

Posted by Nollog on 01 November 2012 - 11:07 AM

I'll just leave my two cents about this here...

It makes legitimate sense that the commercial was aimed for the casuals. Follow an example situation with me if you will...

>Casual gamer has Wii
>Sees commercial about Wii U
>Seeing as casual gamer enjoyed Wii, said gamer will probably enjoy Wii U and buy it (Ok, fine, I'm not the best at example situations, but bear with me)

Now, if a "hardcore" (for lack of a better term) gamer sees the commercial, they'll most likely do a bit of research on the system to see the (gag) "hardcore" (throws up) games it'll offer from launch and the long run.

No point in marketing only to the hardcore audience when you can market to the casuals and word of mouth spreads through that means.

Dunno about you people, but it seems to me that if a hardcore gamer is interested in the Wii U at all, they'll do their research. :T

So you think Nintendo of America has successfully shown the people watching the advertisement with zero knowledge of the Wii U prior that:
1. it's a new console
2. it's not the wii with a tablet
3. it launches november 18th
4. it's available for 299 and 349
5. it has a great line-up of games at launch
6. it has online features
7. it plays wii games
8. they need it to enrich their lives, or it has entertainment value which appeals to them

I dunno about any of that myself.

We're not Nintendo. And Nintendo like to keep secrets to "surprise" people.

#122666 AC 3 gets big patch day 1, massive number of bugs/crashes, no word about wii u

Posted by CUD on 30 October 2012 - 06:07 AM

Wow. I remember when games had to be finished first.

Or released with these glitches and no way to fix them. They had deadlines to meet so they released the game and then the patch, doesn't seem like a big problem to me.

#122451 WE MUST NOT LET THE WII U FORUMS DIE!

Posted by Mignaga on 29 October 2012 - 11:56 AM

Actually the second the Wii U comes out, I'm going to delete my account on here, get rid of my Facebook, end my You Tube show, throw my laptop into a grinder, crush my PS3 (as well as delete my PSN account), throw my 360 out a window, and burn down every school in the world, because Miiverse will be able to fill those spots, and more.
Sorry, it's the way it has to be.

#122429 NEW NINTENDO LAND!

Well thank you for ruining the suprise...

Your choice to click the thread that says "NEW NITENDO LAND" your choice to watch the videos. My fault for the surprise being ruined right?

#122366 Iwata Talks about Third-Party Support on the Wii U

Posted by Stormage09 on 29 October 2012 - 06:45 AM

Maybe its a bit long but its worth reading:

Let me first explain how software publishers in the video game industry are seeing the Wii U system. Naturally there are publishers that simply fell in love with the possibilities of Wii U, and as exemplified in “ZombiU” by Ubisoft, some are developing Wii U-exclusive titles. In addition to this, there are multi-platform titles that nevertheless take advantage of the Wii U GamePad or the Wii U system itself, and at the same time, there are purely multi-platform titles, so it is true that our publishers have varying degrees of commitment. However, the fact that we were able to announce such a rich launch lineup of games, particularly from overseas software publishers, does give us confidence. While the future of dedicated gaming platforms is now widely discussed, as the graphs for the U.S. market justify, I believe that this lineup proves that Nintendo’s vision is shared by many, and there is active support for that too. My aim is to set a successful example towards and after the end of the year that rewards the investment our third-party publishers put into their titles and will then create a chain of other successful titles. Establishing this kind of example at an early stage is crucial since it gives others the incentive to follow suit, while failing to do so casts a dark shadow over their future prospects of the platform. We should therefore not be content with having a good game lineup. It is important to produce examples of success from these titles.

- Doesn't seem like there'll be paid DLC for Animal Crossing: New Leaf because it'd make the game be too costly.

#121569 Miiverse must be downloaded, not pre-installed.

Posted by Andy on 26 October 2012 - 03:05 AM

There's only three people at Nintendo who's word I take for fact, Iwata, Miyamoto, and Reggie. Until it comes from one of their mouths (or another high-up dev who's close enough, like Aonuma, or the Animal Crossing guy) I remain skeptical.
