#86740 no online multiplayer for Pikmin 3

Building an online mode would take from the single player experience so I like the decision. Plus the reason Miyamoto gives is totally right.

#86369 Wii U wont sell at A loss

Posted by Alianjaro on 10 June 2012 - 09:35 AM

does no one consider the possibility that sony and microsoft's next console's will be really weak? i still haven't seen one person that doesn't think microsoft and sony's next consoles will be powerhouses. i dont understand where this assumption is coming from? sony is failing and havent made profit since the last time they made a weak console. microsoft is casual obsessed these days. not saying they're going to be weak but it's more likely they will be weak than powerful.

as for nintendo, i hope they price it where they make no profit, no loss, i think that would be the best price, and later down the line production costs will fall and they will make profit, that way they will still make profit day one off software sales :)

I actually was asking to myself the same question, especially that Microsoft and Sony don't have as much money as Nintendo, especially Sony...

Jack Tretton recently said that "We don't care about being the cheapest, or being first on the market. We want our products to be the best" also since Microsoft has an unlimited bank account and they always strive to be the best (contract preventing 3rd party games from being on the 360 unless its the best version) so its pretty safe to say that microsoft wont hold back but sony did lose 6.4 billion dollars. This will be interesting to see.

Hey Microsoft has money from their other divisions, but don't you think that if the gaming division fails a lot, the company would continue making consoles? Yes, Microsoft could live 10 years while losing 1 billion of dollars per year, but would they keep making consoles if they lose money?

http://mynintendonew...-loss/#comments

Don't know if thats good or bad but seem like Nintendo won't be losing money with the Wii U, which means 2 things. It may be priced reasonable but means that it will be underpowered compared to the Sony and Microsofts overpriced next gen consoles OR it will be an overpriced next gen consoles. What do you think?

Your reasoning is wrong here. Nintendo has always had the cheapest consoles even though they were as powerful (the N64/GameCube). Nintendo is also the oldest gaming company. They have A LOT more money than the other big ones (Sony's and Microsoft's gaming divisions). Nintendo doesn't have to worry about money so they can set a lower price and gain $75 per consoles. The other two need to set the price higher if they want to earn money. So, for an equal quality, expect next gen XBOX and PS to cost more.

#85326 Apparently it will take 30 mins to receive online messages

Posted by Alianjaro on 07 June 2012 - 11:52 AM

Hey people I don't think you totally get this (if I'm wrong, then I am the one that didnt get it :) ). Friend to friend posting is fast and won't take 30 minutes to get sent. For the the Miiverse though, it would take 30 minutes. Anyway, you don't know who posted that message, so do you care about when it was written? You get an endless feed from people you don't know so it doesnt matter.
Also, don't forget that Nintendo is the first to introduce this concept in the gaming world, so who knows if its a bad idea? I mean, did you think of all the problems that can have Nintendo if they don't do that?
For example, lets say a dad buys a Wii U to his 7 years old child. The kid goes online without his dad's permission and sees a message like: "If you read that message you'll die in 7 days". The kid freaks out and is so shocked that he cant sleep for a month. Then the dad sues Nintendo for not moderating miiverse and wins because Nintendo didn't show any terms and conditions. Do you think Nintendo wants to lose money? I dont think so. I think every new console would do that.

Then how do you instantly get help? Then the whole point of MiiVerse becomes obsolete. IT's stupid to moderate for 30 minutes. 2 minutes max and you just have a defined prohibited list of words etc.

You probably are not the only one to ask the question so it doesn't matter. And actually, do you expect anyway to have an instant answer from random people in the world? By the way, it made me think of something. They could make for each game a private in-game chat that would bypass the rule.

This wouldn't be necessary if people weren't so gross and pathetic.  I hereby blame society for this problem.

So do I.

No. That is just wrong! If I am having a conversation, I am not going to wait 30 minutes for a message.

Hey friends bypass the rule. You would be able to chat on the Wii U. The thing that defines chatting is that its fast. No way they implement this to chat.

As long as friend to friend messaging is instant. I don't mind. My comments to the worlds at large won't be as important anyway. But the age seeing idea is good.

This

30 minutes to post a public MiiVerse message. Normal friend to friend messaging is still normal.

#85315 Maybe Nintendo is targeting the hardcore long term after all!

Posted by Alianjaro on 07 June 2012 - 11:08 AM

So after watching the stuff from this last e3 I have come to the conclusion that Nintendo has a long term agenda for the hardcore gamer. Stop laughing I know what I'm talking about (I hope). If one looks at Nintendo's release lineup they have pretty much revealed all the major Mario games for the 3DS and the only Super Mario game they have yet to announce yet for the Wii U is their next 3D one. What will their studios work on if all their Wii fit, Wii Sports equivalent, and New Super Mario Bros games have already been released for this generation? The Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, Kid Icarus, Mariokart, Smash Bros etc. now I know that some of those games are already in development and confirmed (Smash Bros most notably), but this has really freed Nintendo up to work on hardcore games while still having the casual stuff available near launch.

What do you guys think? Makes sense, or just a false hope after a semi-disappointing e3?

Your reasoning makes a LOT of sense. I didn't think of it this way, but now you say it, youre totally right. The Wii had a quite good launch lineup but soon enough I noticed the lack of games. The Wii U will appeal to the hardcores. And I think that the Wii U's launch lineup is really good. We've got FPS (Aliens: Colonial Marines), 3rdPS (Ghost Recon Online), Strategy (Pikmin 3), action/adventure (ACIII and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge) and a lot more... Reggie is really right when he says that western developpers take awhile to jump to the next gen. Am I the only one that has a good feeling about this e3?

My body is Reggie!

#81360 I don't believe the Star Fox/Metroid crossover is true.

I honestly dont think its a good idea to make that Starfox-Metroid game...

#80361 Wii U Zelda

Posted by Alianjaro on 23 May 2012 - 05:55 PM

Nope. Sorry, but that sounds.... not Zelda-ish.

I agree. Plus, I don't like the fact that we know when this is. I mean, we can situate each Zelda game on a timeline but they never specify when it happens. Plus I like how Zelda includes technology in their games, without being futuristic (like spirit tracks had trains). It's so charming.

#78382 IGN: Wii U Gets New Controller Design?

Posted by Alianjaro on 14 May 2012 - 05:08 PM

There is no grip to hold the controller and the face buttons are right below the right analog stick? How will that work for a third person uncharted-like game? Like, when you need to use the face buttons, you will need to move your entire hand and slide it down to reach? Whereas the PS3 controller or 360 controller you just need to move your thumb. This wii u design is the best http://www.megapirat...r-featured.html it just needed triggers. They need to be offset.
And yes, this is an old patent filed in october but published now.

You may be right but the Wii U controller isnt that big. I dont think it would require to move the whole hand to get to the buttons.

Thanks for the clarification. On a side note, why are people bashing IGN? You guys do realize that gonintendo also reported on the story. Most, if not all gaming websites, report on rumors. I do agree that IGN is rather bias when it comes to reviews, but because they report on stories like these, you can't simply deem them inaccurate or unreliable.

If IGN is inaccurate, then how is GameSpot. They're the one that gave Skyward Sword a 7.5...

#78211 Rumor: 3 Mario titles will be announced at E3 2012 for Wii U

I'd love to believe that, but its 4chan so I'm not sure...

#75971 Nintendo Needs to Talk About the Wii U Before E3

I dunno, but I am confident and I think Nintendo knows what they're doing. I agree with you though.

#75921 Pokémon Wii U - My Ultimate Fantasm

Posted by Alianjaro on 29 April 2012 - 03:31 PM

Hey looks like people here are really open-minded (does the word exist?) and are ready to discuss new ideas sooo... here we go again for another Ultimate Fantasm, this time about Pokémon. The game hasn't been announced (yet!) so here are some ideas about the next Pokémon because, you know, I'm pretty sure they'll make a new Pokémon.

Now a lot of people associate Pokémon to handheld systems, and I understand them because the only thing we got for the Wii was... yeah you know what I mean, but I actually liked PokéPark as it was kind of new and it shows how Nintendo is ready to make the series change a bit.

Then here is what I propose. You know how Pokémon games are almost always situated in big areas (Kanto, Hoenn etc.), right? Now it has been said several times that the Wii U will be kind of focused on social gaming. You know what that mean? There will be a possibility that the next Pokémon will take place in an open world. This might mean MMORPG! I'm not the only one to think about that so I don't necessarly "own" the ideas I will talk about.

1. Open World and MMORPG

Pokémon has a crazy potential for home consoles, especially with the Wii U. We've seen with Pokémon Colloseum. Unfortunately, the system (GCN) wasn't powerful enough to make the game an open world (a game that takes place in a huge environment, like Skyrim), and the fact that you could only catch shadow pokémons killed the game a bit. But now, now... the time has come, they could make the game an MMORPG taking place in a huge world.

The game would be played in the 3rd person point of view. You'd control the pokémon trainer, and start with a Pokémon that you'd choose at the beginning of the game. You know, I'm not very accurate when it comes to explanations, so what about an example?

You start the game by waking up in your bedroom. Your mom's calling you... blablabla... the usual Pokémon things. You go outside, and notice that your character's house is in a city and not in a little village. you go to the lab to get a pokémon. Here is the first difference: you won't have the choice between three pokémons at the beginning, but between a lot of common pokémons, in their first form. Let's say you choose Pikachu. He's gonna be your starter. When you get out, you notice that you're in an immense world. You can decide to make your pokémon walk besides you when exploring the world. The interesting thing about it is that it would be fun to see your pokémon reacting to everything surrounding him. Oh and don't forget, they would be in their real size!

The game isn't intended to be exclusively online, but having real trainers in the game fighting against you would be great.

To capture wild pokémons, you'll have to go outside the city. Depending on what city you're in, you'd be near a forest or a volcano or the beach. Lets say you're near a Forest, you could go there, or travel to a further location.

2. Wild Areas

As said before, the wild Pokémons are in... the wild. So let's say you're in that forest. Instead of the classic tall grass where you're able to find the Pokémons, you'll see the wild Pokémons interacting with their environment, and with other Pokémons. You may also be able to watch a pokémon fight! Some Pokémon can be found depending on the weather and time of the day. So if you want to capture a Caterpie, you would be able to find one in the forest from 8:00 am until 17:00 on a sunny day. Some other pokémon will appear only in a rainy night. It would be kind of like Animal Crossing's bug and fishing season. But maybe in that game, there won't be seasons because it may complicate it a bit.

With that system, you could play the game only to enjoy watching a bunch of Tailows' behaviour. It would be crazy, IMO. There also could be a place that can predict group movements. They would predict, for example a Piplup herd coming in the region. The could also say "This month, there's gonna be Piplup breeding", meaning that there would be a lot of Piplups for the breeding, but also that male Piplups will be excessively agressive, meaning that there's a risk they attack you, instead of fearing you or ignoring you.

So I definitely think that an interacting environment is a must for the next game.

3. Pokémon Fights

I know how good are the Pokémon battles, but after a while, I just get bored. In fact, turn-based fights just kill the thrill. So why not controlling your pokémon? Well let's see what I mean.

If you want to catch a pokémon, you go first to the forest, or whatever place it is, and you look for your pokémon. Once you found him, you summon your pokémon. So let's say you targeted a Bulbasaur. You summon your pokémon (Pikachu, in that case) and THERE you take control of him. That means, you make him move with the analog sticks (or whatever it will be). As in other pokémons, every pokémon has 4 attacks. You'll be able to perform all of them (there is enough buttons for that). the other stick will be used to control the camera (like in Monster Hunter). Maybe would there be some dodge and jump buttons? When you see the pokémon, you will have to run and hit him with your pokémon to initiate the battle. There, you'd have a reasonable space to fight (not too big though). There you would control your pokémon and fight the other one. It would be a real fight, where you can attack anytime you want, dodge, jump etc. The game would be fast-paced that way.

I guess you're thinking "Well, well... you forgot the bag and all the items you can use during fights". Well not at all. This is where the controller's screen is handy. Your bag would be on that screen. So if you need paralyz heal or I dunno what, you would be able to access that via the controller's screen, a bit like the DS games. That would also apply to Pokéballs etc.

4. Nintendo Contribution

Nintendo could organize some events once in a while to keep the gamers hooked. For example, there could be an event where you'd have to fight Groudon/Kyogre with some people online (since it would be an MMORPG). They could even make a region have an abnormally violent storm that would make some rare pokémon to appear. Oh and did I say that the game would use real time, like animal crossing? That game would also be DLC's heaven.

5. Customization

When online, one thing's for sure, you don't wanna look like everybody, so the game would need an incredible amount of customizable things. For example, the whole character should be customizable (skin color, hair color, hair style etc.) and his clothes. Maybe even the Pokémons could be customizable (for example allowing you to put a tatoo on him) In the city there could even be a place where you create your own clothes.

Maybe there could even be house customization, but that's really an additional feature. You would buy some furniture for your house via DLC or in-game stores.

6. Online Gaming

There would be the massive online mode where you could find hundreds of other pokémon trainers and fight against their pokémon. To prevent being attacked and having to fight if you don't want to, there could be that rule that allows you to fight only trainers with their pokémon summoned. In fact, if you don't want to fight, keep your pokémon in your poket. That's an idea, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem for Ninty.

Well that's it I guess. If I have something else to say, I will edit the post. Thanks to the readers.

#75631 Super Smash Bros. 4 changing direction - My ultimate fantasm

Posted by Alianjaro on 28 April 2012 - 02:29 PM

History
One or two years ago, I started thinking about something that would IMO be crazy for SSB4, but I always took it as my ultimate wish, as I was sure my idea wasn't realistic. Then I posted it on Gamespot and it got a lot of hate, so I kept it for myself. Then I heard that Sakurai would make the game change direction, the idea popped again in my mind, free from its "unrealistic fantasm" label. As I'm now sure it won't get as much hate here because people are polite on this forum, I'm gonna give it a try and expose it once again.

The Idea
Well the idea is quite simple: Total moveset customization. I'll give examples because it's not really easy to understand, despite the fact that it's pretty simple.

We'll take Link as an example. People would have the option of play with the classic moveset, defined by the developers in the game. They would also have the possibility to customize every move. Here we go:

Normal Attacks

A-attack:
-Vertical slice
-Reversed vertical slice
-Horizontal Slice
-Stab attack
-Left Diagonal Slice
-Right Diagonal Slice

You would have 3 slots, one for each attack. You would choose three attacks and place them in these slots to compose your A-Combo.

Up-Tilt A-Attack:

-Upper Slice
-Upper Stab

Side-Tlit A-Attack

-Strong vertical Slice
-Strong reversed verical Slice
-Strong Diagonal Slice

Running A-Attack

-Running Slash
-Shield hit followed by Diagonal Slice
-Running Stab (like in SSB)
-Jumping Vertical Slash (weird that this attack hasn't been in his moveset yet)

I'll skip the Down A-Attacks...

Smash Attacks

Side Smash Attack:

-Two Handed Diagonal Strike (as seen in previous titles)
-Second Strike (as seen in previous titles. You know, Side A Smash, the second time you press the button)
-...I've got no ideas

For this one you would have to choose two of them (you would have two slots)

Down Smash Attack

-Down Slash
-Back Down Slash (both attacks were seen as one attack in last SSB's. My idea is to separate them so you could cancel them easily
-Sword Plant (Link would jab his sword into the ground, which would deal a lot of damage but it would take time to get the sword back.

First two would count as a half slot as they usually come together. The reason why they would be separated is because you would have to press two times the A button to execute all the attack, allowing you to cancel the second one if the first misses to avoid a fatal hit.

Up Smash Attack

-Triple Upper Slash (as seen in previous titles)
-Half-circle Slash (Slices up. Starts near the ground and finishes near the ground, on the other side. Hope you understand)
-Upper Strong Stab (Link bends down, then stabs up with a Linkish scream. There could be some magic unleashed with the attack)

Special Attacks

-Horizontal Spin Attack*
-Vertical Spin Attack* (as seen in Skyward Sword)
-Skyward Strike (the first time you perform this attack, you charge your sword. Then your sword starts glowing. You can move freely, and the first sword attack you do would unleash the Skyward Strike. If you perform the horizontal or vertical Spin Attack, the range and the power will be increased)
-Boomerang
-Bow and arrow
-Bomb
-Whip*

*These attacks could be used as recovery attacks (you know, when you're falling and you use a special attack to get back on stage)

Also, there, you would have to pick a move for each attack (one for Up-B, one for Down-B, one for Neutral-B, one for Side-B

Final Smash

-Triforce Slash (as seen in Brawl)
-...I couldn't come up with more ideas. There would be more than one choice for the Final Smash and you would have to choose one.

I skipped some, but let's not forget that there could be new types of attacks in the next one. There could be, as someone said on this forum, air grabs for example. Melee introduced grabs, Brawl introduced head jump. What will the next one introduce?

Also, each attack may have a different amount of damage, but they would still be balanced. For example, a quicker attack would deal less damage and vice-versa.

Pros and Cons

There are good things about this, but also things that some would dislike.

+The game's lifespan could be insanely increased
+Will make good Smashers incredibly skilled. Since you don't know the moveset of your opponent, you will have to control the fight, making the game overall harder. You know what that means? HARDCORE GAMERS
+Will settle the problem about the game's physics. Some didn't like the fact that Melee was fast, and some didn't like the more aerial brawl style. As said before, you will have to control the fight in order to win the game, which would require people to be fast. That would make a fight really fast-paced and still keep those aerial physics.
-Really risky. Sakurai will need to be extremely careful with that in order to keep this balanced or else everyone will find the best combination and stick to it, which would kill the customization thing.
-May take time to develop. I don't know anything about this though...

Another Idea

A lot of people want this and it's the most likely thing between all my ideas. Yeah, I'm talking about Alternate Costumes. For those who  dont know what these are, it's pretty simple: instead of having random colors to choose besides the original one for your character, you would have the choice to have your character wear a costume that has been seen in a game from the original series. We have seen some in Brawl (WarioWare Wario and original Wario, Fire Flower Mario, Blood Falcon, Daisy), but as a little add.

I would like to see a lot of alternate costumes (in fact, many for each character). I would also like that the alternate costume gets his own name. For example, in Brawl, we had Daisy as an alternate costume of Peach. I would like to see "Daisy" on the select screen when I choose that alternate costume. I would also like that the alternate costume gets its own voice, if it's different from the original one.

Again, let's take Link as an example. Here are some alternate costume ideas for him.

-Skyloft Link (without hero's clothes)
-Zora Link (I mean Link wearing his Zora clothes, as seen in Twilight Princess)
-Dark Link
-oops I'm out of ideas...

Plus, MAYBE, each costume would enable a skill (for example, the Zora clothes make you swim faster). It could even be skill points, but hey, it's getting complicated...

I want to settle the clones problem once and for all. You know, people have been complaining forever about the clones. For example, Link and Toon Link are really similar. There's no point of having two times the same character. Plus, they take away a character slot. A total waste. But it would be so sad to take Toon Link away from the roster, since he is a different character, even though he has the same moveset. So the only solution I see is to put both Links in the same slot, Toon Link as an alternate costume, but keeping his name and his slightly different moveset (also customizable). In fact, he wouldn't be an alternate costume, but basically, another character in the same slot. TADA! Problem fixed!

You know that in Super Smash, two things are really fun to unlock: characters and stages. Now there should be some unlockable alternate costumes, as it would significantly increase the game's lifespan. Some alternate costumes could also be bought by DLC with real or in-game money.

There could also be a "create your costume" mode. It would be really simple. You would take a character, take a costume model and change the colors to create new costume shades.

Pros and Cons

+Lifespan increased
+Cool addition. Would make people know more about the games the characters come from.
-There's none...

And again another idea...

This is absolutely crazy but let's go! I would want an evolution/level system, but in a different way than the one suggested by a lot of people.

It would be a system that makes your character evolve. It would be a clever way to unlock aternate costumes. let me explain... by taking, once again, Link as an example.

You would start with Skyloft/Ordon Link (without his hero clothes). While getting through the game, you'd get experience points that would make you level up. Once you get to a certain level, Link will evolve, getting the hero's clothes. The Skyloft/Ordon clothes will then become an alternate costume. Not only will this apply to clothes, it would also apply for the sword. Link would start with his training sword. Once he gets to a certain level, his sword will be upgraded (as seen in Skyward Sword), until it becomes the Great Master Sword (sorry, had to put the "great" before...)

The most crazy thing happens when you think about Pokémon. If the Pokémon Trainer gets back in that next game, he could start with his Starter Pokémons, each in their first form, not evolved yet. By aquiring experience, your Pokémons will level up, causing them to evolve, but note that they won't evolve at the same time. You would actually have to use each one enough in order to make them evolve. The original and the second form will then become alternate costumes. All three forms of a same pokémon would have a different moveset, so the first form still could be the one a player likes the most. That would not only apply to the pokémon trainer, but also to Pikachu and the other Pokémons. Isn't that crazy?

Pros and Cons

+Crazy system that would increase the lifespan to, like, 200 years.
+Would introduce us to each character's story.
+Crazy, just ZOMGingly crazy (had to say that)
-Time issues... again, I don't know anything about this.
-Hard to ajust the level for multiplayer gaming. The guest would have a weak character. Honestly, if this idea happens, Nintendop would make sure the problem won't happen, so I'm not really worried.
