#298628 FAST RACING NEO... first screenshots!

Posted by 3Dude on 16 September 2014 - 10:05 AM

Is it just me then? This is some really basic geometry, repeating textures, cloned models and much more.,. Only good thing about this screenshot is the lighting-effects and setup. Guess the real magic happens when it's moving with 120 fps. But then again, why is everybody drooling over this non moving screenshot.

Because this is the only game in the world with instancing.

11.jpg
Xbone, hundreds of staff on team, millions upon millions of dollars spent on production, 40.31 Gb rom size.

FastRacingNeo1.jpg
Wii u, five crazy Europeans, hundreds of cup o noodles, dozens of gallons of coffee spent on production, 1Gb rom size.

Yeah, its damn impressive, even as a still.

Guys, Shulk is just being shown off around in his underwear. That is degrading to men and should be removed because I don't understand why that's there and will only make blind assumptions of sexism.

Q4: I don’t want there to be a shift from cultivating high-priced products, but there are so many people with smartphones. How will you make use of them? A4: We are making use of smartphones in development. Not games, but supplementary tools.

I'd expect there to be an app or web page accessible via smartphones similar to Mario Kart TV for Smash, and Amiibo.

#291189 My XBox One summaries (games & hardware)

Posted by 3Dude on 22 June 2014 - 05:14 AM

I haven't played through the whole Call of Duty Ghosts, but what I played was great. I went through outer space - with guns. I jumped from cliff to cliff and cliffs broke off with some guy yelling at me. I played a seemingly solid shooter. It was pure excitement. Sorry if for some reason, people have a problem with this. I do actually like Mario 3D World a little better, but not Killer Instinct.

Actually, you didnt. You want through a thing Developers call a dramatic presentention of faux challenge.

This is where, on screen, an amazing spectacle is being shown... But in your gaming reality, if you were to look at the buttons you were pushing, the intensity of your interaction with the gameplay... You might as well be playing barbies slumber party.

You went through a tiny tube, shooting at enemies who floated haplessly through the center of that tube, with an awesome exciting spectacle being shown in front of you. Even when the station exploded, you were still stuck in that same tube, you could even see your artificial barriers in the way the debris formed a tube around you.

And once again, when the city was falling apart, you have a grand spectacle, that you barely have any part in. You are also, once again, stuck in a tube, forced to go exactly where the game wants, when it wants, experiencing what it wants you to. You can literally get the same experience from watching a video of the opening on youtube as you can by playing it.

Its a massive problem in the industry today. Especially for most western devs, for whom great gameplay is the riddle of the sphinx, whilst increasing visual spectacle is a simple matter of throwing more money.

For people used to actually playing through things like that, its torture. Its an infuriating screaming hell, where we are stuck on this roller coaster/kiddy ride, depicting the things we used to do, but not allowing us to get out of the the little cart on rails and go actually do them ourselves.

And most people get Nintendo systems, to get away from this, as its the only refuge we have left where we still actually truly play games.

Yes, really. You are free to tell me that I'm wrong. However if you do, you should try them first... the reviews don't really do them justice. Even Call of Duty Ghosts is pretty alright, in my opinion, which I didn't trade for. I mention that because a lot of people don't like it.

A lot of reviews dont do games justice.

But thats not really why we are surprised, you sold your wii u, for a bunch of games you can pretty much experience anywhere...
I mean, zoo tycoon was interesting in 2001, not sell a gamecube or ps2 for interesting, but it was all right. Prefereed roller coastr tycoon, where I could design and ride rollercoasters and other park attractions to keep customers happy, but same basic concept.
I will admit, EA'S UFC game has some sharp looking visuals.
Then a licensed property game on every system under the sun...
And another kinect game made from rare's tears. Some different games, but pretty much well, kinect adventures round 2.

I mean, in about 2 months after release you will be able to pick those up for under twenty bucks.

Why not, sunset overdrive, or Scalebound?

#290480 Original watchdogs reveal graphics found in unused files in PC game.

Starting off with a picture of the recently un-downgraded watchdogs to remind people what the game actually looked like before the downgrade.

Not only does the game look, well, look at it, the way it does now, but it actually PERFORMS BETTER, than the pos ubi released.

This is EXACTLY what Im talking about when I say consoles are holding pc back. Well, really its garbage AAA publishers holding PC back because of a conflict of interest with console sales. Ubisoft purposefully downgraded the PC game, so as to not make the 'next gen' consoles look, well, as weak as they actually are in comparison to standard gaming pc's. It was delayed, to crappify it.

A short list of what has been brought back/recovered in the past 2 days:

-Changes to the default fog values
-Enabled bokeh DOF for the main cameras
-Stuttering Improvements
-E3 2012 Bloom
-Performance Improvements
-Enabled Headlight Shadows
-LoD Changes
-Reflection changes
-Added 3 new cameras to the game(closer, normal, further)
-Rain changes(High quality rain drops, properly reacting to light, etc)
-LensFlares(WIP)
-Lighting changes(TESTING AND WIP)
-Civilians density changes

Keep in mind, these are all effects already in the game, that were removed from runtime by ubisoft on purpose, to downgrade the game so it looked like the ps4/xbone versions. He is just finding them, and then implementing them.

Watchdogs was a game whom LITERALLY the only thing it had going for it was fairly notable 'next gen graphics'. And they took those away from PC gamers for bureaucratical bs reasons.

Something to think about.

#289644 Zelda U graphics thoughts

Posted by 3Dude on 11 June 2014 - 06:35 AM

That may be your opinion but its certainly not mine. The tech demo blows away the actual art style both from a technical and an art style point of view. Regardless from an art style only point of view the tech demo is a better option in this day and age in my opinion. Maybe during the days of the GameCube they had to go with that kind of art style out of necessity but its not necessary now. At the end of the day its my personal preference whether you and others agree with it or not. The hardcore gamer may be able to accept this art style but if Nintendo is to reach the masses they really need to use the tech demo art style to pull in all those other gamers.

Heres your problem. You are trying to argue your opinion, on a subject comprised of facts.

Is the tech demos pathetic low poly tiny room more technically impressive than the actual games seamless gigantic open world? Where you can go anywhere you see? Every square inch of which is completely covered in dense grass, with each blade individually lit and shaded in real time?

How about the pathetically rigged tech demo link with ceramic doll face? How about the fact the actual game characters face has more animation points in her face than the entire tech demos link? Hell, the damn ARROW has more animation points than tech demo link.

How about all the shepards and goats in the fields reacting in real time to the monster? Oh wait, there WAS no other characters in the tech demo.

How about the fact the in game monster has more polygons and animation points in one arm than the entire ghoma model from the tech demo?

How about how it PERFECTLY reacts dynamically to uneven surfaces where tech demo goma has to be put on entirely flat ground?

How about the high speed cross country chase, while tech demo ghoma simply rotates in the same place?

You can have your opinion. Thats all it is. But it cant stand up to the facts.

The actual game obliterates the tech demo on every level except irritating adolescent 'gritty realism is teh matures!'

#288907 Platinum Games' next game, Scalebound, announced exclusively for X-Box One.

Posted by 3Dude on 09 June 2014 - 10:15 AM

Scale suit has powers, use powers to do awesome shiznet, when power bar is depleted, powers temporarily unavailable.

Dragons are freinds. Maybe you fight them into submission?

Art style sucks, but its beyond obvious that came straight from microsofts orders, so as not to scare away shallow manbabies.
