#235419 Raggin On The Pad

Posted by RETROBLAST on 27 July 2013 - 05:38 PM

Am I the only person who is happy with the Nintendo Wii U Pad?  It seems everywhere I turn people are saying things like ... its a gimmick, the Pro Pad should replace it as a pack in controller for the system, Nintendo doesn't even know what to do with it, it not being used in innovative ways .... and the list goes on and on.

Here are the reasons that I like the Pad and am very happy with it.

For one thing,  It is the first second screen device which does what it is supposed to do and does it seamlessly ... and yes I have tried Remote Play with the PS3 & Vita and its horrible.  There is really no lag between what you see on your TV and what is on the Pad.  Game play does not suffer on the Pad, with the PS3 / Vita remote play, lag in gameplay was very pronounced.

The screen on the pad has great dimensions ... it is larger and more "square" than the Vita screen ... it is taller than the Vita screen ... this makes viewing games on it better ... in game text is more readable.

It has both conventional buttons and a touch screen ... tablets do not.

It really feels good ... to me it is the best feeling controller I have used and its Z buttons are perfectly placed and feel great ... its d pad is tight and right ... I like the positioning of the analog sticks as well.

It has a headphone jack and I love that.

it comes with every system ... that means all developers have the option to develop for it no matter what game they are creating .... not the case with Xbox or PS ... in both cases you need to buy a separate device.

I like its uses so far ... the fact that you can flawlessly use it to play off TV games is a major use of the Pad, one that you get so used to so quickly, you almost forget just how really awesome that feature really is.

I like how it is used for maps and inventory screens ... again something so convenient and useful that you may forget how great it is to use the pad for this purpose.

I personally like how it is being used and am not looking forward to the more wacky uses of the pad that may come in the future ... like placing it on the floor and hitting a golf ball that appears on its screen ....

I think the big problem with the pad is that people have become so used to it and its uses so quickly, that its use is so natural, they have forgotten just how great those uses really are.

#214713 Nintendo Direct June E3 Schedule leaked?

Posted by ameritt on 02 June 2013 - 11:16 AM

This is fake. I could have made this list. Everything on this list has already been talked about by Nintendo, which would mean no surprises. That's not what Nintendo does. Plus, all the  points above are quite valid. I would be really disappointed if it WASN'T fake, as there is nothing I didn't already know was going to be there

#109123 New confirmation by IBM of custom 45nm Power7 chip

Posted by Socalmuscle on 17 September 2012 - 12:32 PM

Yeah but if it was a power 7 based CPU than it would be a strong coupled with its Apparently Great GPU and 1 gigs of ram for games that would make it clearly better than 360 which if going by peoples thoughts and Rumors that it will be equal with some parts weaker .

Fact:
The Wii U uses a custom Power7 CPU.

Fact:
The Wii U has 2 GB of RAM

Fact:
People have been hilariously inaccurate when predicted the Wii U performance and specs.  "People's thoughts" are different than fact much of the time.

People simply expected the Wii U to be the Wii 2.  It's not.

It's a powerful machine with the Power7 architecture at its heart.  Nintendo isn't playing around here.

#85079 Apparently it will take 30 mins to receive online messages

I think it should be a user or parental setting IMO. I can see the use for younger children, but for everyone else, I think we prefer more instantaneous updates.

Then how do you instantly get help? Then the whole point of MiiVerse becomes obsolete. IT's stupid to moderate for 30 minutes. 2 minutes max and you just have a defined prohibited list of words etc.
