#187279 Official Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Discussion

Posted by Lupaie on 28 March 2013 - 08:23 AM

I just want to say thank you to those who defended the poor demo. I am now 30hours in te game, greatly enjoying it and still just having the feeling that i am scratching the surface. Biggest monster defeated yet: Diablos. Rank2. The demo put me off but I still had fate. Thise those in doubt...buy it. Also, the mh community is great. I already made friends and people really take time to educate each other and help out where possible. I love it. It really contrasts with the fast frenzy and bullying players of Halo and Gears.

It is a really good game. Really enjoying it but get over it. You guys have been playing Fire Emblem and that arrives in Europe not earlier than April :( Can't win them all.

#177479 MH3, NFS, LEGO U, LuigiMansion2 your opinion

Posted by Lupaie on 28 February 2013 - 09:36 AM

Man! Everybody is complaining about the lack of games but I am really having trouble deciding what 2 games to buy in March.

I think my kids and wife will kill me if I don't buy Luigi Mansion. So that leaves me with the budget for 1 title.

I played some Lego games but found them a bit to easy. I wonder how Lego U will be reviewed.

I played the MH3 demo but found it a bit hard. I don't have that much time and the not offtv mode is a bummer, yet I am still very interested

I really dig how much work went into the WiiU version of NFS and I am excited about the game based on what I saw. Yet...Still have not finished Forza Horizon and NFS Hot Persuit.

What would you guys advice?

#174870 How do you think Nintendo could advertise better?

Posted by Lupaie on 23 February 2013 - 10:31 AM

Just communicatie what we have:

WiiU:
- Nintendo's next gen gaming system is right here right now with:
- Triple A Exclusives
- huge back cataloque with Virtual Console
- continue playing while TV is occupied
- eShop
- integrated social network designed for gaming
- unique experience with Gamepad
- crossplay with 3DS

And then create a video not showing people playing, but just showing some scenes of the top of the bill released and upcoming games

#174394 Wii U & PS4 (It's like the 3DS to the Vita)

Posted by Lupaie on 21 February 2013 - 10:20 PM

I posted this in another thread to make a point in the discussion, and rather then it getting buried I thought it would be appropriate to start a separate topic. I'd like to get other opinions and thoughts on this and perhaps you might see it the same way I do.

Here is the simple comparison.

Let's say the Wii U compared to the PS4 is like comparing the 3DS to Vita. We all know which system has higher specs & more power and yet the graphics quality in some of the games on the 3DS surely do not disappoint  and often surprise in the graphics department (Revelations/ Kid Icarus Uprising / Fire Emblem / Luigis Mansion / Castlevania / SM3DL and some others. )

I don't think this is a bad thing for Wii U and think that it will hold it's own in this new generation. We all know graphics are not everything but Nintendo has a strong system and I think will have the advantage in gameplay with the gamepad.

You are forgetting one big thing. Consoles and handhelds have different target consumers. I dare say that 4in5 3ds systems are bought by family for kids aging 12 years or less. (Give or take). Family and kids do not worry to much about gfx. Yet the consoles are targeted more to adult gamers and then the gfx do matter.

You do realize that every single portable monster hunter ever made worked just fine with only one analog stick right?
You do realize the portable monster hunters vastly outnumber console monster hunters, and thus the vast majority of monster hunter games only used one analog stick.
Use the damn camera ai's, thats the sole purpose for their invention when the series was moved to psp.
Monster hunter has the highest entry barrier in gaming. You are going to hear this a lot from people who play monster hunter because we are damn sick of 15 years of noobs throwing the same crap all over the place because they dont know how to play.
Its not the game, its not the platform, its you.
Usually its because of something you just dont know about, the rest fthe time, its just lack of skill.

Partially agree with you. Sure, whenever I go back to play games of the Nes/snes/genesis era, I am really having a hard time beating them, even though I beat most of the games when I was a 10 year old kid. On one side the games were just much harder, less savegames, no tutorials and almost no textscreens. On the other hand we gamers have been made lazy. They did however lack some of the gameplay mechanics we have nowadays, like dual stick control, but what they did very good is build up the difficulty and while doing that slowly letting players learn more and more about its mechanics. I too believe that games have become too easy, too much textscreens explaining the game and much to long tutorial episodes before the actual gaming can begin. The funfactor is missing for me if I first have to do a 1 hour tutorial. Nintendo does these things very well the Zelda series.

A missing second stick though is one of the main complaints of the MH gamers. I have read so many reviews of the PSP versions and time an time again the writers and commenters say that the game would benefit from a second stick. So with this I mean that a game should not be harder because of bad camerawork, bad ai or bugs and also not from bad directional input. I'm not saying MH 3ds version is bad but just understand the previous poster when he's saying he has trouble with the camera. That has nothing to do with skill.

#173888 F-Zero GX AX2

Posted by Lupaie on 20 February 2013 - 11:43 PM

I actually have that game, so I would know if that was GX or AX. Plus, the video is titled F-ZERO GX AX Cup Master Class - This means the AX Cup on Master Class difficulty on F-Zero GX. Not to mention that video shows the GX title screen and the imputs are Gamecube buttons.

F-Zero AX does not have access to any of the Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, or Diamon Cup courses nor does it have access to all 41 machines.

You're right, I absolutely misfired on this one. I missed that screen and was hoping it was the AX Arcade version. Still I hope that Nintendo/Sega bring us an enhanced version in HD...Here's the HD Dolphin version of GX which looks absolute good:

#173884 My personal thoughts on the Console market (WiiU-PS4-X360) at this moment

Posted by Lupaie on 20 February 2013 - 11:34 PM

I think they should show a Retro devved COD-(graphicswhore) beating trailer of Metroid. Show the world that there is not that much difference between the new Killzone and what WiiU does. They need this gap between now and e3 to grow the install base. After that is will be 3times as hard.

#173871 My personal thoughts on the Console market (WiiU-PS4-X360) at this moment

Posted by Lupaie on 20 February 2013 - 10:07 PM

When I bought the WiiU I thought....well, maybe in a few months I'll regret this move, apart from the exclusives, I didn't expect too much from third party from the start. Understand I'm a gadget lover and a Nintendo fan so I just could not not buy the WiiU. Today, watching the PS4 announcement, I was really afraid that this moment of regret would kick in.....it didn't.

Social intergration, WiiU has it and it can easily work that further out with a partner to supply videosharing too.
'Away from keyboard', can be done by utilising devs with the means (MonsterHunter/3ds/wiiu but Nintendo must do a Buy Both at one price action)
Second Screen offTV play...WiiU has and with a bigger screen (if maybe a bit less quality)
Okay, the PS4 has much better graphics but they just not blown me away with ingame video's or even a real life demo of a game.

So how far along is Sony it all? I believe this is a Dreamcast Marketing Idea from Sony. Start promissing the world about the PS4 and they'll stop buying WiiU's because PS4 is coming. Guess what, I don't believe it. Not only did we see any real stuff that's near completion....I missed the console design....Did I really mis that? Where the heck was the console? It must not even be finished.

Al in all, I'm pretty happy with my WiiU, Watchdogs announced. Now it is up to Xbox, and they are in no hurry. Why would they? PS4 isn't coming and WiiU is not grabbing much attention so MS can just wait, build it's portfolio and see how far they are around June.

What is important though is what Nintendo does next. They must focus on Next Gen right NOW. Step out of they shadow of the upcoming consoles and make gamers happy right now. There is only one party that needs to step up right now...IT'S NINTENDO. They have a timeframe between now (1st of March - and Mid June (e3).....Make it happen!

#173424 Europe gets 60hz VC games too

Posted by Lupaie on 20 February 2013 - 08:08 AM

Nintendo raises in my respect for them. They just seem to listen to their fans. Last month there was much comotion about Balloon Fight being in 50hz mode in Europe. Now FZero wil be available as the 60 hz US version will be sold at 30c in Europe. Bye bye 50hz.

Also, as Nintendo seem to have listened at the huge resonse in Miiverse Balloon Fight they might have picked up that other big question.....oh Mother ;)

#172550 New Nintendo Logo

Posted by Lupaie on 17 February 2013 - 10:53 PM

Good initiative but the oldr logo is much better. Your capital N doesn't fit the rest of the letters. The rest of the font is not too consistent, reminds me a bit like a medium ITC-Avantgarde. Font is also used for the new Rare logo.
