At the end of the day if "U" enjoy playing it who cares what the specs are. If you live your life listening to what others have to say about products you probably wouldnt end up purchasing anything.

Like i stated in another thread, pretty much all devices that have up datable firmware will probably obtain some kind of damage from the power going out. One thing i wish Nintendo would have done was make the firmware update downloadable from a PC, that way you could download it over night or something and then all it has to do is install from a USB onto the system. Thus avoiding having the console run for hours on end while you download the update.

The power going out has nothing to do with Nintendo, Pretty much every electrical device that updates firmware etc says not to turn off the power during update as it can cause harm. Now obviously in your case it couldn't be helped but even if it was a mobile phone or something it would have caused problems.

I usually leave my consoles horizontal, Mostly for a fact the general rule of thumb is a CD drive spins easier when horizontal thus making it easier for the laser to read it, Just an old thing my friend who use to work for IBM many years ago told me.

People over analyse things these days, Learn to enjoy life seriously. Like all those people going "OMG da Wii U isnt 8 timez quicker than PS3740 etc," or "OHMRG NAWWWW da touch screen on da gamepad isnt a superdooper whooper one"
Enjoy the console for what it is, a games machine, something to play and have fun on.
